That's a real shame but at least you were there.

i was unable to go at all due to work but I listened on the Radio 538 stream up to and including the Megamix and my impression was that musically it was weak and purging the trance ingredient essentially kills it, for me at least.

You are right. I posted my review in the TOTA forums (as I'm from that area and was updating my friends). I posted that although I was extremely disappointed in the music and the lack of performances between the DJs, I'm still glad I can check Sensation White off my list of things I've always wanted to do. It was a good experience and I don't regret it at all. I just feel cheated by ID&T. Oh well.

Was helemaal top om mee te maken, ondanks de klote muziek soms!

Too bad you had to find out the hard way. On the positive hand, things can only get better from here (you're doing more events here this summer, don't you?)

Thanks for the review, ID&T have done things that werebeyond my imagination in terms of this event. My feeling is that they've spread themselves too thinly as they try to go Worldwide and they want more lightweight, portable, off-the-shelf shows to take on the road and have possibly overstretched themselves to fund a rapid expansion into the Worldwide Tour. Last year's show included a lot of theatrical and wonder whether it cost them too much to stage it?

ID&T is beginning to look like a very corporate company which contrasts with the sentiments of Sensation itself.

This is very true. I was just at Daft Punk which was amazing. And then I have Dance Valley coming up as well as Extrema possibly - if I can find tickets! Then I'm off to Ibiza :)

Funny you say that b/c I was just thinking the same thing in regards to that whole world wide thing.

One thing I definitely did enjoy about Sensation was the crowd. Everyone I thought was extremly friendly, not overly pushy and not sketchy. Not to mention there was always a lot of room to move. Much different then what we get in Toronto.

~Edit~
In case anyone didn't see it, this is what I originally posted in the TOTA forums:

SENSATION WHITE REVIEW
July 7, 2007 - Amsterdam Arena

ID&T you really ed that one up. I don't even know where to start. I had already been a little skeptical of the event when I heard the house lineup. Sensation was a party I've been wanting to go to for years, and it had always been trance before. Nevertheless, I knew Sensation wasn't a "trance" party, it was more about what was popular at the time. I've seen the videos, no matter what there was going to be a good show put on with dancers and entertainment and such.

Cale and I got to the Arena around 8:30, it was funny walking around outside the arena where the Heineken Music Hall etc. was and everyone was dressed in white. We go through security and finally approach the inside of the arena and I look in...holy ...wow...I can't believe I'm really here.

We took lots of pictures, and walked around as the place filled up. We found a great place to see the whole arena basically and watched the opening from there. The first DJ was DJ Mason...who the is this guy...seriously. Absolutely NO flow whatsoever! Not to mention he didn't play a song more than 2 minutes before switching to a new track. I'm no DJ, but his mixing was not very good either.

Next up was Fedde Le Grand. Personally I thought he was going to be , but I've heard lots of good things from people who have seen him, so I thought I'd give him a chance. Too bad he blew it. Also .

Third, Erick E. I didn't think it could get any worse, but it did! Good thing there was a Wii area where you could play all kinds of games on Wii, Nintendo DS and write on the "Love Message Wall". So we spent an hour basically doing that.

The megamix came on after that and Cale and I went onto the dance floor as they were spinning some trance and mixing in some house as well. The best part was when they ended with Signus X - Superstring...too bad they only played like 1 minute of it.

David Guetta played after that. I've heard some good sets by him so thought I would like his style. Nope. Absolutely terrible. I knew the night was completely over for me when he played "Jump Around - House of Pain" BTW it wasn't a remix...it was the original version of the song...and not a bit of it, but the ENTIRE thing.

Cale and I were looking around at everyone for most of the night, and it sure looked like not too many ppl were dancing. I think a lot of ppl were expecting trance when they bought their tickets not knowing the line up, as Sensation has had trance DJs in the past. A lot of ppl looked disappointed.

Another thing that I didn't like was the lack of special performances. All of the Sensation videos I've seen before had like 10 minutes between DJs where there were dancers and all sorts of crazy antics going on. Those were basically eliminated this year as well in favour of Chinese Dragons dancing around in the crowd instead. Lame.

At about 5:30 we had had enough...we couldn't take it any longer, we had to go. We put in as much time as we could, but it was just unbearable. Thank you ID&T for ruining Sensation for me. It's sad that the best part of the night was playing Wii for an hour.

All in all, I do not regret going - it was an experience and I can finally check that off my lists of things I wanted to do before I die. But I can assure you, I will not be going to Sensation White again (unless I know the lineup before I buy my tickets - which is highly unlikely)
Siesta
ha ha ha ha ha!

priceless dit, al die buitelanders die voor Sensation kaartjes kochten en hoopten op trens djs terwijl er gewoon house djs stonden :stongue: :stongue: :stongue:
