| This friday, I will be one of the DJ's playing the spring Sensation White Party! This will be held at Chubby's. It should be in huge and al drinks are 2-4-1 that night, so come on out in a white attire (required!!!) and enjoy the best electronic music in tallahassee...and support a fellow TA! | never been to chubby's, or any other tally club for that matter...guess I'm spoiled by Avalon LA, space miami, Fabric london, Cavo Paradiso on Mykonos, etc :D Just might make an appearance to this though. You guys are doing a lot to juice up the tally edm scene, I hope you keep up this momentum as long as possible. I've always said this is an untapped market just waiting for the right people/promoters/djs to come around. keep at it. |

Well there used to be a pretty good scene, especially in Gainesville, but ever since they enacted the curfew and the good underground clubs closed up, the scenes died :( The city is really strict about the clubs closing, so its been a nightmare getting anything going :( |

all i hear about from ppl at work were the glory days of g-ville. i forget the name of the club PVD used to spin at pretty often. then they rolled back the operating hours and all went to .

Yeah I'm really looking forward to this event tomorrow night. A little nervous for sure...I haven't played infront of a crowd of 500+ since NYC last summer. Nothing a shot or two cant fix right? :stongue:
The only thing i've really hated about this event is supprisingly how political it is. As such it's even going to effect somewhat the style i'll be playing tomorrow and my track selection, and to be honest I have no choice. Here's my situation:
The headliner used to play at this club every thursday for an aparently popular electronic night. He since then graduated, moved to miami and has a budweiser sponsorship on southbeach. He is coming back to tally to headline the event and told me that If I do well enough, he will push to get me my own night every week....which is huge. Electronic music of any form on a weekly basis in tallahassee is unhead of. However the headliner gave me conditions:
1. I play to build up his set. Meaning I have to play more progressive (im a ing electro house club bangin dirty nasty beats dj.....with a touch of angello/ingrosso/axwell swedishness.
2. I can't play: Proper Education (ANY MIX), among other songs (that are played out that i dont play anyhow...examples being Another One Bites the Dust [cedric gervais remix], and PYHU4D.
3. I can only play harder driving house towards the end (uh....my entire style) of my set before he goes on.
4. I have to really consider not playing tracks that kids not into the scene wouldn't like. IE: Don't play Hit Girl by Sebastian Ledger (even though its a nasty nasty NASTY song...that ALWAYS gets a reaction)
5. And the final request being playing more recognizable house music. IE: Anything by Bob Sinclair (of course i'll rock axwell remixes and re-modes for sure)....Tom Novy - Your Body, Michael Gray - For The Weekend. However, this last request i DO agree with because its a college club and if I don't play a track that people recognize or can sing along to every 1-3 songs, I will get eaten alive by the crowd. I've played college clubs before and thats how it works usually. However, I still plan on sticking in my own style now and then...trust me. I have a few aces up my sleve that if people dont like...and dont move....they must have broken legs.
If I dont make yo booty move, yo booty must be dead? :conf:
not to mention one of my cdj1000's is busted and I can't practice the 40something new tracks I have.
SO ITS GONNA BE A PARTY BITCHES. Should be fun.
little does he know that I will be dropping "This Is Sensation" as my last track. If he thinks i'm not playing that...hahaha.
Hope to see some TA's out there. There is aparently security detail at the booth so people cant come up asking for hiphop requests....however, i think you guys should come up with something to wear so I know who the TA's are so I can let you in the booth to party!!!

Hell yes. Clever and I will most likely be making an appearance, had fun at the party last weekend too. Good luck with the residency and all, I'd in love a place to party at least once a week with some good music :) |
