Yea I’ve been in the ER twice. Once with so-so insurance, and once with really good insurance. lol the time I went with good insurance, I got a CT scan, IV drip for 12 hours, the whole ing 9 yards. lol The other time, I just sat there in pain and vomiting for about 7 hours before they dosed me up with some meds that made me even worse and sent me on my way. |
LMAO. I mean, sucks but still funny coz' it reminds me of a joke:
Queen of England is visiting US. On her visit, she wants to see US healthcare system, so she's taken on a tour of a mental health facility. Passing one room, she sees a man masterbating.
- "Good lord, what is that man doing?" asks astonished queen.
- "Your Majesty, that man has terrible affliction - unless he relieves his sexual urges at least 3 times an hour, he will die."
- "Good grief! that's terrible!"
They keep walking through when they pass by another room with a patient sitting on a bed while pretty nurse is giving him a bj.
- "Sweet heavens! What is going on over there!" exlaims the queen
- "Same condition as the other patient, your highness"
- "But why is your nurse is.... errrm... you know - giving him a bj?!"
- "Oh, this patient has a better medical insurance, your majesty!"

yeah. that's why I was ready to sue the hospital for malpractice - he should have been under watchful eye. My mom did not allow me to pursue any action but I think we easily would have won. But it wouldn't have brought my dad back.... I still feel responsible to this day - I should have insisted they place him in ICU... feel like he could have lived for few more years if the hospital didn't kill him. |

Well , at the risk of sounding like a broken record, Theresa I really hope you're OK. Whatever it is that you're going through, it sounds utterly awful and I really hope that once you are seen by a doctor they can sort it out and take care of whatever it is rather quickly.
:)
You will be in my thoughts today. |

When I got hit by a car the third time in my life, I landed on my face. I was like panicking for a second and probably thought I'm gonna die or something, but then I was so confused and all so I wasn't really able to think about anything. I just sat there waiting for the ambulance to take me to the hospital and the police to come check how much alcohol had I been drinking (none :tongue2).
I got out of the hospital a few long hours later because. Head hurted, I still have a ing bump (a bit like that) on my forehead, my neck hurted like a bitch and so on, it sucked. Sucks even more to know that I don't have a pic of my face that was taken just after I got out of the hospital, it would be worth laughing at afterwards :( |

I have no problems with a two tiered system provided that it does not take resources away from the public system. This is to say... if all the doctors, equipment, and facilities used in the private system are new (as in additional to the public) then I'm fine with it, however, if even one doctor is less available to the public system because of it then it's not acceptable. |
By using policies such as having to have a required amount of years in the public system before getting a private license.Limiting and determining other criteria would give doctors the incentive to put in their time for a possibility of a bigger piece later on.How much is the government investing in educations to students who migrate south? If you are going to force them to work in rural communities with no incentive I honestly don't blame them for leaving. Private hospital care would also create new possibilities for taxation. You know very well that in Canada any cash cow is also a cash cow for the Federal and Provincial governments. |

I disagree with the requirement to serve in the public sector prior to transfering to private medicine. By doing this you ensure that all the most skilled and seasoned practitioners will be unavailable to the public sector. If there is to be private medicine it must be done as additional hours to those spent in the public system.... overtime if you will. With regard to education, I would be in favour of makeing students sign an agreement to refund all monies used to subsidize their education should they leave Canada to practice elsewhere within 10 years of their graduation. |

Sorry to hear that, but I can't help thinking of that 'Blair Witch' style camera next to your face when you landed on it.
I must be watching too many of those movies :) |

Kind of the point of socialized medicine. Care is based on severity of condition not quality of insurance.
The real problem we have in Canada is people going to the hospital for stupid . I used to work for a company that made monitoring equipment for hospitals and the things I heard when I was there. People going to the ER for stuff like my leg fell asleep, my finger hurts I have a cold. The problem in Canada is since its free people go to a doctor for every stupid thing that happens to them. |
