My near death experience came 4 years ago this month.
I had diabetes and didn't know it. 2 weeks more, and things could've gotten really bad - comas etc. Really appreciated things alot more since!
Hope you're ok Theresa :) |

Internal bleeding.
I went to the bathroom... lots of blood.
Called the telehealth line, they told me to go to a doctor.
About to get ready to leave, nose starts gushing blood.
Stick kleenex up my nose, get in the car and head toward hospital.
Stopped car enroute to cough up blood.
Nearly passed out. Head went cold, everything went black... this is when I thought I was dying.
My boyfriend freaks out *not in a bad way as he was trying to calm me down, but it was obvious he was panicking*.
Get into hospital.
Get put into ER.
Told that I have to wait.
Waited 3 hours.
Decided to leave to go to sleep, and go back in the morning.
Now I am here. |

| Wow thats all i have to say. Hospitals are so bad these days. You walk in and be like my arm got chopped off and they will be like heres an icebag. Put it on your stub and hold it there. Head to the waiting room and a doctor will be there in about 2 maybe 3 hours. Have a nice day! |

ok, I read up to page four, then skipped to page seven, so anything inbetween I'm not not held liable for knowing.
No offense Theresa, but why the were you stupid enough to leave the hospital? Who the cares that they have "uncomfortable chairs". Pull up another ing chair, lay out, and pass out. Now if something worse were to happen, you're the dumbass that went HOME. Newsflash: If you were to get worse, there's an army of people to help you at the hospital. If you're at home - you're ed. Boohoo there's a long waiting time. You think none of us have had to wait for a long time before?
You're a ing attention whore. If your life was actually in danger, you wouldn't have left. And if your life IS in danger, and you DID leave, then you're a ing attention whore who's also a moron. |

| People do stupid , and when you're not thinking straight, the probability of doing stupid increases. |

Indeed, our health care is paid for from out taxes. Essentially it's the same as an insurance plan except everyone pays acording to their means and everyone receives the same benefits. Add to this that the hospitals are all government owned and the employees (doctors included) are all employees of the Ministry of Health.... this carries the advantage of all the hospitals being "not for profit" thus reducing the cost of health care. One added bonus is the province becomes a huge purchaser of drugs and medical supplies, therefore they get massive volume discounts (buying power ftw), which further reduces the cost of health care. |
Health care here sucks. Will go over it in the 2 replies here but...
My nana needs a knee replacement and her veins need to be done before the surgeon will operate. Having paid into the system all her life, included a pension fund which she was taxed on once and is now being taxed on a 2nd time (lovely government) she's been told that she's not able to have her veins done because they're now considered unnecessary so now she can't have her knees done & is in constant pain with it. Paying privately would cost about $17000ca which she just doesn't have.

This proves our health system is lacking.
Sorry to hear Theresa. I'm digging through this whole thread but I read what I needed on the 1st page and that's some scary .
I've been in the ER before that contained 4 other people and none of them were seriously injured ( I asked them all) and they told me my wait time was between 5-9 hours so I told them to go themselves and if they didn't let me through that I'd get violent. I get let through.
Bull system, but hey it's free....ish. |
a few months ago my pup nipped my mums ear & it wouldn't stop bleeding so they went down to get it stitched. A man was taken in by ambulance having been glassed in a pub in an unprovoked attack. he was sat in a queue and nearly passing out, with blood all down his face & dripping everywhere, his clothes were soaked in it and glass was all over his face. they wouldn't even prioritise him and it wasn't until he pretty much passed out and my nan went to the desk to demand someone saw to him. this country is 3rd world in many many ways. I hate it so much. |
