lol oops :clown:
I thought you were referring to the brother and father ganging up on the girl in this case, and that you were generalizing that this "ganging up" occurs in all Muslim countries.
Yes, women are treated like all over the world...that's not a big surprise. :( |

However, none of us know if the police were using excessive force to arrest the man ... |
Excessive force ... ? who cares ... the dude took a girls life away ? There is no excuse. As for the brother, if he was there, and didn't do anything, he's just as guilty. |

No one's giving any excuses to put the man behind bars for a long time, but we have rules of conduct for a reason, so it IS wrong for police to use excessive force in any circumstance. I was just throwing out a scenario for why the brother would be implicated. I also agree if he stood along and watched, he is certainly complicit and should face the full extent of the law!!
The police isn't there for vengeance; just to enforce the law! |

What a terrible shame.
And we wonder why some countries are still stuck in the stone age...
I'm quite sure that the son didn't get involved because it wasn't his place to correct or interfere with his father, and he would likely have suffered such a fate himself if he had ever dared to...but I could use a Muslim's opinion on this. FOR THE RECORD - that doesn't make it right, neither does what happens to rape victims, who are always assumed to have been 'asking for it' through thier behaviour (or even worse, were attacked as a point of honour by another caste for no infraction of thier own), etc. Nor does that make imprisoning a teacher for allowing students to give a teddy bear a name of reverence they selected right or just. It's a ed up little world we've got here, kids.
I can't believe that in light of abhorent behaviour like this, not to mention everything else that has been done to cause suffering in the name of honour, people still tried to have Sharia law enacted here. You want to live in the 3rd century, go live in a mud shack somewhere and beat your kids there. Don't bring that bull into my society. This man deserves far less than to sit in a posh Canadian jail cell.
On a lighter note:

Be at peace, Aqsa. |
