What is a much up?
I'm serious cus I've been staring at that CD in the store for a while wondering if I should get it and this post started making me think I should. I'm in US and got the pleasure of hearing daft punk before anyone over here even knew of them cus a friend of mine was dating a guy from belgium or somewhere over there. I hadn't heard much techno at all but I thought it was awesome. So they def have a special place in my heart. |

| I got to see them live and had a spot just as good as the one in the photo. It was easily the best show I've ever seen hands down, and was one of the best experiences of my entire life. |

I would probably also add that performing EDM live is no easy thing. In order to actually be doing something with the music live which is based on already made loops from their original songs, the live performance aspect is often in the form of mashups...I like the different taste it gives to some of their classics...one of the videos on youtube has da funk and they did something really cool to the solo 303 sound that made it sound different and better. Awesome. |

LOL!
Actually it is. Techno in the broad term. Anything with looped drum beats and synths can be called techno. Jeez too many snobs on these boards.
electro funk house...is that better? but actually I wasnt trying to nail daft punks style in my talking...I'm talking about any techno (meaning electronic dance music) being performed. |

| At least you know the difference, it just gets annoying to see that name being used in a "broad sense", as it makes it a pain the ass to try to explain to people what you listen to when you're a fan of actual techno the sub-genre of dance music (Joris Voorn, Kevin Saunderson, Technasia, Slam, Oliver Lieb, Jeff Mills, ...). Using the name like that is what made people think techno = Darude and Zombie Nation. |

LOL! I totally understand. Yeah usually if I'm talking to someone I'll just have to say "and then I like techno...not just dance music but the sub-genre techno"...it's funny sometimes to explain to people that there's techno called techno...I'd say EDM but then that includes downtempo, trip hop and other stuff I don't know if I'd lump into techno....but I digress!! |
