Why have a pitbull if it doesn't attack??
Why have something to distract you while driving if your not gonna run someone over?? |
All three ridiculous points...
I enjoy shooting many different kinds of guns for sport...You ever tried it???
Some ppl actually like pitbulls as a companion...I think it's a great looking dog...And did you know that more ppl are attacked by Labs than Pitbulls every year???
Most ppl are more than able to drive a car and talk on the phone at the same time...
This week, one woman was dragged and killed while crossing the street and another 12 year old girl was hit and actually CARRIED on the hood of the car for 30 meters...Neither driver was using a cell phone... |

you continually amaze me with your lack of intelligence.
do you realize that labs are the most owned dogs in North America, while the pitbull is near the bottom. If you would bring the statistic
up in terms of per capita the pit bull wins.
did you know that there are more gang attacks from african americans than mayan soldiers? |

Were you beaten as a child????

Car pooling site shut down by bus company
Cutting up the competition
By Nick Farrell: Thursday, 13 November 2008, 7:39 AM
A WEB SITE designed to help punters reduce their carbon footprints by car sharing has been shut down by a competing bus company.
Trentway Wagar, took PickupPal to the Highway Transport Board after complaining that the ride-matching service fell afoul of the province's obscenely strict ride-sharing laws. True it also nicked most of its customers but Trentway Wagar was not going to tell anyone that.
As a result PickupPal owes (CAN) $2,836.07 to the province and another (CAN) $8,500 to Trentway Wagar.
Nanny State Ontario penned a law in the 1970s about public ride services in order to keep its citizens safe. PickupPal's web sites serves as a matchmaker for drivers and passengers, allowing them to work out compensation and other issues. However the site does not require checks on insurance, roadworthiness of the vehicles, or driving history.
Trentway Wagar said it is unfair that it has to meet labour, environmental, and equipment standards to haul passengers around when services like PickupPal can arrange rides without doing any of that.
PickupPal operates in 52 countries and says it has not faced such a challenge anywhere else. Public perception of Trentway Wagar is that it is not so much interested in safety standards as it is in shutting out the competition. µ
Funny one!

I don't really disagree with what Trentway Wagar is stating here. If PickupPal is making money from this service then they should make sure the vehicles meet the required standards and the proper insurance is on the vehicles....they should be held to the same standard as any bus company or cab company. |

| Dr. DAS |
They are not a transportation company, they are a people-matching service.
If they owned and operated a fleet of rideshare vehicles, then yes they should be held to provincial standards. This is like suing craigslist because the fleshlight you bought second hand still had spunk in it. They didn't sell it to you, they just put you in touch with a seller. It's up to you to make sure your driver is safe and competent.
Just TW trying to capture more business, imo...and it stinks. |

There are serious liability issues with what Pickuppal is offering here. They could easily be brought into a lawsuit if a passenger using their service was involved in an accident. They are potentially putting people in harms way without doing any background checks on the people or vehicles involved. |

They were a people-matching that charged a fee for people-matching.
They've since removed the 7% fee and it is now totally free. I don't think TW has a case now...
How is this any different from the CarPoolZone? |

| So if Dr. Das arranged for Cono Sur to get a ride with ChemEnhanced to the Guv, and Chem get into an accident with Cono in the car, Dr. Das could be held responsible because he did not check Chem's driving record? |

I've been a PickupPal driver since May.
My current rider pays me $20 per day to drive her about 40km to work and back each day, which only adds a slight 4km detour to my 60km daily drive, and she pays my 407 bill.
PickupPal is a blessing. It's money in my pocket for a drive I need to do anyways and good conversation on a long drive. |
