SO WHAT?

There are studies that proove that electronics are DANGEROUS to have in the car. When you are in the car you should focus on DRIVING.

SO WHAT if you have to pull over to answer a call (if you dont have hands free) or to change your route on your GPS? Playing with these devices while driving is not safe for you or other drivers.

But where does it stop? Soon you will not be able to have food in your vehicle and you won't be able to smoke. It won't be long where it will be illegal to only have one hand on the steering wheel, to have music or the radio playing and you can only have passengers if they don't talk or move while in the vehicle.

put your emergency light on and park on a side?
that's the most ing dumb comment i've seen from you Jay, I mean common! you'd rather drive with half an eye on road, programming your GPS, putting everyone's safety at risk, then park on a side of the road?

i am fully capable of changing the channel on the radio (unless thats banned too) and constantly checking the gauges on my car. I think i can press a couple of buttons in order to coordinate a map for my destination. And i can definately change the song on an ipod (same as changing the radio station as far as im concerned).

As i said. Id rather do that then do the incredibly dangerous deed of pulling off the highway and possibly getting rear ended and then trying to negotiate my way back into traffic every time i get a call, want to change my music, or get lost trying to find a location.

Or having some idiot pull off on the side of the 401 to answer a call and then trying to get back onto the 401 when they are done their phone call.

Its not so dumb. The shoulder is the most unsafe place you can be on a highway. Thats why whenever you call CAA for car trouble the automatically tell you to get out of your car and stand behind the guard rail or on the grass well off the highway

+1

I constantly use my Blackberry to send emails, or messages and am fiddling with my GPS while driving. I also notice that when I do these things I tend to swerve more and not pay as much attention to the road.

It is definitely not safe to be playing with these electronic devices while driving, and people won't learn until you force them too. Even with the implementation of these laws, people are still not going to follow them.
No one is going to abide by this law until they get caught. It's pretty easy to get away with messaging still while driving as long as you keep your phone on your lap.

If you want to continue talking on the phone or messaging while your driving, go ahead. But there are quite a few places out there have already banned this kind of a thing.

highway being 400 series or two lane rural is where most people drive. In the city it might be a little easier if you want to take your chances with the parking hornets.

No, it doesn't, but i'm just trying to point out that its not just Ontario. Eventhough I think Dalton is a tard, there are justifications to some of these laws they are trying to impose.

Do you at least see the benefit of this law?
