Do you actually think most people use hardware? The vast vast vast majority of electronic music is amature. Trance is the most flooded gnera of music. On this site alone you have 10 new artists a week posting new tunes. Almost all of it was done in programs like FLStudio Reason or Cubase. Using nothing but software synths. This is why alot of people agree real trance died in the brink [1999ish] of the century. Because its around this time every noob and his brother was able to push tracks without needing a serious studio.

The industry is saturated, up to its neck with tons and tons of amature crap. For evero Pro musician there are atleast a thousand amatures.

I have to guess that over on the rock forums, they are having the same conversation about cheap guitars, amps, and Garage Band.

was i talking about n00bs who consider themselves producers, but aren't???

yes i do think the majority of professional producers making quality productions use some kind of hardware. name some that don't who aren't eric prydz, or laidback luke (who both now use midi keyboards anyway i believe)...

Professinal musicians don't decide the direction of an industry. So no, We arn't talking only about professinals. Because Tracy McTrance Maker likes the Korg MicroX doesn't mean Korg is now going to push 5000 more units. The top 20 trance producers could all buy and recommend the Korg MicroX, but if all those "n00bs who consider themselves prioducers" do not, then Korg doesn't continue making Korg MicroX do they? If they did, they are ing stupid. But no, if 20,000 "n00bs" want a software vsti that emulates the Korg MicroX, cost 5% of the price of a real Korg, and sounds half as good. Then that is what Korg is going to make. and with the dumbing down of everything else electronic, the same will happen here.

Look at PC gaming, now a days most people prefer a crappy closed platform box with half assed games and system specs that are worse than the best PC 5 years before said console is made. And even amoung the consoles, the highest quality console is failing hard [PS3] because xbox and Wii have more gimmicks and are cheaper. And pro Gamers are not the ones that cause such a slant towards crappy consoles instead of superior PC gaming.

So yeah, eventually quality will not even be a factor, how cheap is it and do others like it? Those are the qualifications.
Subtle
Cronodevir, maybe its time to put the crystal ball away ?

What a crap analogy. If you want to go talk about why you think the PS3 "is the master pwnage" and PC gaming "is the mega-!337 sauc3" then go to the videogame section.

End of discussion. Thank you and good night. *thread closed*

Interviewer: One of the most essential parts of your career are your equipments, how do you choose them to deliver great sounds? Of course you need to be updated with what's hot in the sound market!

Phynn: You don't really need a huge recording studio for EDM music. I try to stick to software synthesizers when I can, but I have some hardware for when I want analog sounds. The warm analog sound from hardware synthesizers can not (or not completely) be reproduced by a software synth. So I prefer to use hardware for melodies and basslines, while I use the software and samples for percussion an other gimmicks. I regularly check for new plugins and synths to keep up with new technology.

PS3 has the best specs of all the next gen consoles.

What does it matter if the PS3 plays Blurays, wipes your ass, and clips your toe nails if it doesn't have the games you want to play? Nobody in actuality picks out a console solely for the system specifications unless they are trying to build a tactical nuclear device from it(which is against the TOS BTW!). People factors in the games they want to play, and in this way the synthesizer doesn't really compare.

One is for creation, while the other one is for entertainment.

Now I don't even know what I'm trying to argue. Whatever.:tongue3

I could laugh at the people who buy a TI and think they're moar analog:toothless
