I don't really have much to add to the reviews already posted. It's Wednesday and I'm just getting out of my bed and man does my body ing ache!
I spent 98% of my time on stage in the trance room. We went to the house room a couple of times. Caught a few minutes of Axwell and Offer Nissim. I just didn't like the vibe in there at all. Trance room lasers were great. The second that the sound in the VIP area sucked! Did any one else notice the volume dimming like crazy? It may have been just me.
I also hated the VIP bathrooms. My best friend was the crazy person trying to convince everyone to go to the bathrooms upstairs because there were no lineups at all. 2 stalls in a girls washroom? Really? Retarded.
Lights going on at 8am was equally retarded. That, in the end, is what sent me home way earlier than usual. Still had a great time. Alex, you are our new best friend! It was such a pleasure meeting you!

12 arrests at Bal en blanc shindig; 10 men, 2 women face drug charges

Twelve people were arrested at this year's Bal en blanc, the marathon dance party for an estimated 15,000 revelers that wrapped up yesterday at the Palais des congrès.
Of those arrested, nine were for drug possession and three were for drug possession with intent to sell, Montreal police Constable Raphaël Bergeron said.
Ten are men and two are women.
At last year's event, 16 people were arrested
The party began Thursday and lasted through yesterday at noon. Tickets cost $105.
The main event took place Sunday night at the Palais des congrès, but clubs across the city held parties in conjunction with the event.
Police officers - some in plainclothes - worked alongside 200 security guards hired for the main event, now in its 15th year and billed as the biggest electronic dance music festival in Canada.
The bill for security and other costs associated with the extra police this year came to $60,000. That amount was paid by the organizers of the event.
No alcohol was served at the event between 3 a.m. and 8 a.m., as Quebec law stipulates, Bal en blanc spokesperson Paul Gilbert said.
According to the Groupe de recherche et d'intervention psychosociale, or GRIP, a non-profit drug abuse education group aimed at youth, 70 per cent to 80 per cent of Bal en Blanc participants use illegal drugs like ecstacy, ketamine, cocaine, GHB and speed, despite police searches and the possibility of arrest at the event.
GRIP volunteers are at the event in a mini-geodesic dome to give party-goers advice and drug prevention material. |

It IS lazy reporting. They probably use Infomart Dialogue, that software subscription service that brings up previous stories on the same subject, but these reporters don't dig deep and cover the essense of such a large event.
I was expecting to see Offer Nissim and the mousehead on the front page yesterday morning :p |

I went with a couple of friends that don't know anything about house / trance, so I played them the original Killers version and then this remix before heading out, so when it came on I was like "hey look! something you recognize!". SVD just doesn't go wrong (well... mix 1 of Spaceman is pretty awful). |

THE GOOD
There was a lot of good this year at BEB. It was definitly a success for me and I dont regret going at all. Montreal is a great place to party and we showed it one more time. The crowd and the vibe was just amazing. But, ahem, there are still things that pissed me off...
THE BAD
1. The wait for the VIP bathrooms (both in the house and trance rooms) is disgusting.
2. Offer Nissim should never come back. Even if his set was slightly better than last year. And dont tell me you are bringing him to please the gay crowd... that's an insult to them.
3. If you're gonna play a theme song, make sure you can actually recognize it when the performer does it live (wow, too bad, cause I liked the song when i heard it on the BEB website).
4. Deadmau5. Just the thought of seeing him making his appearance on stage with all these ignorant people cheering for him made me wanna in my pants almost on the spot. So I made sure to leave the house room before the end of Axwell's set (unfortunately).
5. You gotta respect Victor! It's 2 years in a row now that you make him play after 2 heads (Offer last year, and Deadmau5 this year). No respect. Especially for someone who delivers year after year.
6. Gotta work on the sound. For real.
I know I have suggested it before, but why can't BEB set up a survey to ask who people want to hear! With around 15,000 people showing up year after year, I think it would give them a pretty good idea of who the majority wants to hear. Of course you'll always have the music experts calling out obscure underground names and the noobs calling out david guetta! But from all these names, then choose the ones that would fit best in a rave setting! You cant have DJs like Deadmau5 again... seriously.

vanditradio will have a full tl for markus and above & beyond soon. i'm pretty sure #2 is dakota - chinook, markus premiered it on gdjb last thursday. #27 is just remix the identity of the remixer has never been known but my guess is it is markus since he's the only one who plays that track. #17 still hasn't been premiered so still an id...
