I don't know why, but its only these people that try doing that. *from what I heard from Offer Nissim, I was surprised, much better than last year. *the up of the night was deadmau5... ok this guy doesn't belong at bal en blanc (or anywhere for that matter), on purpose he goes to bal wearing his black mickey mouse head and bringing his own skank/dancer wearing all black too. He completely killed what Ana Paula set up and emptied the room. Also, his tour manager, what a ing , everyone backstage was glad this clique left. This was a big you to Bal en Blanc, well deadmouse, we send our best yous to you too, hopefully never ever seeing your ugly face in our fine city. *now my up of the night, i see this girl at every party, she's always super friendly, too friendly, so i start flirting with her just for the of it... she tells me she's lesbian and her gf is right next to her :stongue: :stongue: :stongue: :stongue: i was too tired to say anything smart to save face. *Victor Calderon as usual delivered a solid set despite a glitch in the beginning... does anyone else here want this guy given more time?? He should be playing in prime time, not closing! Actually deadrat should have closed, he did a wonderful job emptying the room. *The trance room was much much bigger than last year (biggest ever), it was so big that it seemed a bit empty on the fringes. *It seems like the VIP sections are not well indicated, they looked empty to me most of the night, which is weird considering how much people pay to get those extras. *Bal en Blanc is not responsible for the food served at the Palais (or bell center), but bal en blanc should hint the Palais that they need to stock more food, at 6 am, they had no more sandwichs!! and barely anything else left. *speakers in the alley were a nice touch, seeing some passers face in the palais past 11am was priceless. *media coverage was retarded as usual, they say the same crap year after year, i swear to god, they must just reuse the same text and fill in the blanks. *happy to see all the TAs that night, a big boo to the TO crew for choking on saturday night and not coming out for a drink :p larommel7 hey badger you think you can judge somebody knowledge of music or event because his profile says {in training}...Maybe I just don't live in past and i compare this event with recent one...Sure the trance scene had better days in montreal but those days are gone. If you like trance music you have to admit the line up was at least good. If you don't agree with me concerning the shirtless guy because you're in to that, obviously we can't argue objectively on this matter. Spin Laden I have to say that finally Balenblanc stepped it up and made some noticeable improvements on the previous two disasters of 2007 and 2008; however, complacency can be a killer sometimes, and as a few TA's have commented, there are some areas that could use improvement, indeed. Speaking of those 2007 and 2008 issues, my wait this time was only 30 mins, aided by VIP (12:30AM arrival). However, I did see that the four-hour wait was roughly halved into two hours this year. Well done. I probably could have shaved 10-15 mins off my wait by not wearing a jacket to BeB. In any case, it was well worth the 30 bucks except one MAJOR aspect: the VIP washroom. VIP WASHROOM NEEDS IMPROVEMENT The washroom situation in the house VIP was beyond preposterous: excessively long waits, a constantly flooded floor and a miniscule washroom altogether. In any case, the VIP sights outside made it palatable for much of my night ;) As for the music, it would have been nice to catch King Louis' big room set but I am happy he did apparently well. Louis, we are all eagerly awaiting your review! Uppercut dropped some terrific beats to get us started. It was my first time hearing him and he did a superb job. 8.5/10 Can someone tell me what Offer is saying with all that lip movement? Hilarious :p I did see him walking with his camp while in the VIP line, nose in the air, shades on and looking as diva as one could look. In any case, his set contained some real gems, some smooth uplifting house, occasional banging basslines, albeit with mediocre mixing, imo. 8/10 ANA PAULA DELIVERS A terrific tech tribal set with excellent flow and amazing energy. Great booking by you guys as she really brought the house crowd into this event with her tracklisting matching her enthusiasm throughout. The only aspect marring her solid set is the apparent fradulent use of the dj decks, an allegation I heard from one of my crew as well. 9/10 Axwell was not below or above my expectations. His set wasn't flowing well, imo, as his progressive tracks were lost within the commercial MoS stuff, making the set rather disjointed at times. 7/10 I gave Deadhouse lots of heat on here but a part of me feels bad that he is getting terrible reviews. I know he reads TA, mainly because he's retarded :p but I can tell you his set wasn't all that bad. I have seen him three times and this was the best set from him. His own productions really brought down what was a suprisingly progressive and chuggy sound coming from him. Starting his set off with "Ghosts and Stuff" was a tactical error, imo. He should have kept the progressive tech house going and then thrown his productions in maybe halfway or near the end, as he ended his set with Faxing Berlin, I believe. To hell with the 18 year old fanboys and curious tranceheads, you're in Montreal damnit :whip: :p As I've always said, Deadmau5 was a cash-grab booking that did not make sense for either room at BeB. However, if he is willing to continue his foray into more progressive tech house and get away from his productions then he may become a deserved fixture here for years to come. 7/10 Victor disappointed me yet again. I found his set lacking energy and flow, though some of his tracks were mind bending. I have seen him four times now, but his 2007 Resolution set is still tops in my book. 7.5/10 BANGING TECHNO? Not to be left out, I did venture to the Tech/dark side a few times and I was in amazement with some of the banging techno coming out of that room. Above and Beyond and Armin were destroying that room with some of the most bumpin', sinister sounding tracks that harken back to the days of Preach. Fortunately I didn't catch too many breaks and that epic trance sounding garbage. Speaking of garbage, did anyone see the pileup of bottles by the pole there? Now, if the theme was indeed recycling, how about havig some recycling blue boxes on hand for those bottles? ;) What a cesspool that was. In sum, Bal en Blanc is moving in the right direction with some well needed changes. The screens were an excellent addition, as were the lazers, thought the latter is of no real concern to me. And again, the hiring more staff has put this event back to world class status once again. Btw, this is my 5,000 post on Tranceaddict :p Thank you for taking the time to read the bitchfest. Will I ever do BeB again? Only if a large contingent of people from Vancouver show up next year like they said they would. Otherwise that's it for me. All in all, BeB 15 was okay, a 7/10, as perhaps less texting to all sorts of friends would have made it a better experience for yours truly... as well as holding back a bit from a crazy Saturday night at Karma, which in effect rendered myself listless for the following marathon the night after. I blame boring Ottawa for that :p /postwhore. elFreak lol @ deadmau5 being a head, it just compounds even more what most people on here think of him.
