it just seemed like mau5 got up there and didn't give a what he was playing....i saw him excited (and don't know why) when he played one song....
as a DJ the guy sucks imo, and maybe his attitude towards the industry, after reading some articles, as well, but nobody can hate (even if they are not the best) on his productions.
There's a reason why he has a trillion of his songs doing top 10 on beatport. Although his early early productions were way better than his present.
Like i said earlier, he is the perfect example of a producer that DJ's.....
He should really focus on his talent, which is producing....stem into film soundtracks, etc...he clearly doesn't care about spinning and clearly not good at it...(but i cause its extra income, which never hurts :P) |

exactly the same thing I wrote on TA after seeing him year and half ago. Don't be surprised to see a deadmau5 computer game in the future, where one tries to throw shoes, bottles, food, etc at a bobbing and weaving dj :p |

Sorry peeps, I was out of town for a work trip in Washington dc this week, and the other days FULL Recovery!! Eek……
Thus....seriously late review:
This party kicked my ass!! More because of friends than music though. I have to say that while the music was good, I would say that past Bal en Blanc’s have won me over more (ie: both Armin and A&B played better, imo, in the past couple years, and who can replace Ferry, menno, and Preach sets??? Bring them back, dammit! :() regardless, to me the vibe was all about the people this time around. While the last couple years I spent whoring the music and DJ’s, this year it was so awesome just to party it up with good friends and new friends!! ;) :)
Vibe: awesome!! :) :) :) Great people, decent set up (love the change-around in the trance room….soo much more room!), great lasers, etc… (I will spare you the repetitive reviews here…)
Edit: LOveddd the half naked football players, I was staring at those tight little booty's the entire time they were on the stage.....Armin who? yum yum.....LOL ;) :) :)
DJ’s:
King Louis: Holy crap I have never seen EITHER room so packed that early, especially the house room. Saw the last 45 mins and he was destroying it! :) :)
Insomnia: Saw some of her set and I loved her track selection. Just an awesome opener, she hasn’t dissapointed in two times I’ve seen her.
Markus: LOVED it. :) :) :) Prolly the best put-together set of the night for the trance DJ’s. Nice and hard trance with a great flow….didnt realize how important flow was until Armin came on LOL… Also he did the perfect amount of crowd pleasing without overdoing it, which I can appreciate. I love his energy, and he is always such a funny guy. Always on his game in Montreal…I think he likes it here?? hehe ;)
Armin: Now, Don’t get me wrong, I like armin, but HOLY what was with the loooong breakdowns?? He held onto the breakdown for so long that it felt like a constant interruption to my dancing flow. I understand he wants to play with the crowd and do his jesus pose, but DROP THE F*CKING BEAT !!! :whip: :whip: Regardless, Armin started off slow and half way through started destroying the place. GREAT second half of a set. I like it soo much better when he plays hard, techier beats, and ending with *mindcircus* omg!! :) :) :) My girl from NYC knowsss that’s one of my fav tunes ever and she just immediately turned around and started singing with me :) ;) loves it!! One of the best moments of the night for me....came from armin!! <3 <3 He still own's me sometimes, eh?
A&B: Loved some and didn’t love some. Mixture of old stuff and new Anjunabeats stuff, so it went back and forth for me, really, depending on what track they played lol. I love the older stuff and Air for Life and Alone Tonight were just memoriesss!! Lol I was also looking for my lil Montreal friend who swore he would roll around on the floor in glee if “Air For Life” came on….and that was something I just had to see!! Haha ;)
Set of the night for me: VICTOR CALDERONE!!! Wow, especially those last 45 minutes, just deep, dark, tribal-techy delicious beats. I was a bit over-tired-out-of-my-mind-zombie-like at 10:30am-12pm, but victor made sure to keep me on the dancefloor til the end!! Me and my remaining friends loved it and put as much energy as we could into keeping our legs moving (although I must say I was so tired I doubt I was rhythmically keeping up :( :( lol). <3 <3 <3 <3 I wish He had longer sets, but I think I still want him to close because, if any other of those DJ’s had closed, my night would have ended at 10:30am. period. Awesome, awesome toonage……
Moral of the story was this was not the most impressive Bal en Blanc. The organization was better, but the music wasn’t what it was in past years, nor was the production. I LIKE coming to this party for the theatrics of it, and I think spending so much on the DJ fee’s is making it lack a little in that area. But nonetheless, the party was so brilliant, you tend to get over that after your first few rounds around the Palais…………. because PEOPLE MAKE THE PARTYYYYY! :) :)
Shoutout to the (promoters/owners??) of Circus nighclub who I met at the bar and gave me (and Im sure others...)free drink tix...such nice fella's and what they didnt know was that later I lost money out of my purse and those drink tix saved me from huge dehydration and and early night!! <3 <3!! many thanks.....
Mucho love to all my NYC/Boston/Toronto and Montreal peeps for making this party AND weekend so memorable! You know who you are! ;) Miss you guys already…….see you next year for Bal #7 for me!! :) Much love to the Canadians who always know how to throw the best parties :) Makes me miss being in canada every weekend......Appreciate what you have, my friends! <3 <3 <3 |

| ohhh you know I have to give ONE shout out to Malek, who is *always* the best host. Sooo much love to him for always being ready to party and always giving us the best suggestions for what to do and when/where/how/etc....I swear our Montreal trips would be half as fun without this guy :) |
