State the following:

state the league(s) you support.
state club(s) you support.
your teams progress this season.
any flops your team need to get rid of.
any pressing issues confronting modern football. racism, foreign-homegrown player ratios.

i'll start first.
im an avid follower of the english premiere league. why? fast paced free flowing football.
Chelsea FC is my team. why? huge supporter of african football and SOME of the best are wearing the chelsea badge on their chest. solomon kalou, didier drogba and of course micheal essien.
chelsea's gotta scrap ballack, quaresma, malouda. inconsistent players. thier time has come. quaresma's just a waste of air.
i'll leave the pressing issue part for the open floor.

lol

its free flowing because the players just 'cross' the ball up and down the field, and of course from side to side and defenders that can't defend = more goals....thats why canadians/americans follow EPL more

not sure about the english premier league crossing the ball up and down the field anymore which was indeed the old english style of playing and the one that Canada's national team stuck to for so long until last year.

Have to agree im a major english premier league follower, dont have a personal favorite this year, but i was a solid Arsenal supporter. This year, i just like what Chelsea,Man U., Liverpool and Arsenal bring to the table. Man.City even with the new owners and Robinho on the team arent doing as expected,no idea whats going on with Newcastle.anyways its the best league in the world at the moment hands down. ( i support the Drogba, michael essien, Kalou statement with a little shoutout to one that doesnt play anymore, Didier Okocha; was with the Bolton Wanderers i think)

Didnt always say that as i follow the Spanish primera ligua too, Barcelona is my favorite team for the past 10 years, period. i despise Real Madrid, athletico madrid isnt bad at all. There was a time where i considered the spanish league the best.

I sadly dont follow enough the bundesliga, if i could,i would.ill support any team Podolski's in, the guy's crazy.

as for the MLS, its actually decent soccer, nice new additions in the toronto team with some players with european and international experience, with the likes of Rohan Ricketts and an african international who's suppose to join the team soon.Forgot his name

i had some love for juventus, Pavel Nedved the dude's crazy, juventus had (probably still has) a strong attack, Del Piero Fan right here. Sadly, arboring the juventus jersey in my neighborhood could be fatal, my italian origins dont show right away :toothless

Thumbs down to the TFC, I just posted it for jokes..looking forward to Whitecaps in 2010 though :p

I do like how the TFC are supported by their rabid fans, the whole party atmosphere there.. though Toronto will support all sorts of crappy teams :p

personally i wouldn't sum up the premiere league that easily. i somewhat agree with you theres quite a bit of direct (long ball) football played in the premiere league. but this only works with teams with tall strikers. so those teams can pull it off. chelsea have anelka in which im personally not a huge fan of but he aint short. drogba as well has the height but he also has the power. will literally plow through any defenders path to get the long ball coming from the midfield or even john terry in the back lol.

i've noticed a couple of serie A fans lol. 84th ave and Freak. alot of people are making comparisons between serie A and the premiere league these days. out of the biggest football leagues world wide, the prem league is ranked first and serie A is second. i guess its only natural to compare. theres definately two different priorities in these two leagues. prem league puts a huge emphasis on attacking football while serie A is more focused on possessive/defensive football. thats why games in italy are a little more slow paced. total opposite going on in england. i do however give credit to the italians for having their defensive game down pat. some of the best defenders come from the serie A.

i personally think the premiere league is better than the serie A however, yea you could say its the ridiculous amounts of money being poured into the system but in the end of the day its a competition and the better team prevails. we've all scene that in this years champions league having english teams wipe out the italian teams. yea italian teams are really technical and have lots of flair but its the more pacey attack minded style of play that won in the end of the day.

Serie A is still a strong league and has a few top, top quality sides but it is a shadow of it's former self. There are severe problems with violence, fascism and racism amongst the fans. There have been major problems with corruption and match-fixing that have shamed the League in the recent past. The attendances are dropping as well. empty stadiums.

If the premier league was made up of 'pool, Arsenal and occasionally Chelsea who all play brilliant football and don't use the long ball tactic then I would be a huge supporter if the league. However, one cannot judge the whole EPL on these 4 teams, which many people do. Most of the english sides are very unbalanced, where they do use the long ball tactic even till this day, and no not only teams like Portsmouth where they have a 9 foot Peter Crouch. Just look at the standings, its always the same 4 teams contending for the title, with a huge gap between the 4 beasts and the rest...the mediocre teams are just that, mediocre.

If you look at Seria A, yes they too have the same 2-3 teams that are always on top, but the small teams always pull upstets, and are generally good teams. They are exciting to watch, teams like Calgari, Sampdoria, Lazio, Genoa, Fiorentina, Roma, Palermo and Udinese always put on a great show, even against big teams. The teams in Italy play a tactical game where experience and real-knowledge of the game is needed. I agree its slower, but this isn't hockey. English teams are all about fit players that if you can run up and down the field your a star in the making (ie. Babel). There is no emphasis on defence, or maintaing the offside line/trap, etc. it reminds me of indoor soccer just on a bigger pitch.

Furthermore, Seria A have young home-grown talents that are stars in the making. I can name 15 off the top of my head, where England has only one true rising star in Walcott. This has, and always will be hurting the national side of England, (where the last triumph internatinally came over 60 years ago, a reflection of the League) even if you have one of the top italians as a coach. Besides Inter, all the teams have many many italian players, some amazing some ok, but still they are home-grown. Which brings me to the next point, the EPL as sold its soul to rich oil-digging russians/arabs and retared americans where they know nothing about the sport and only want to cash in, pouring millions of dollars into a team.

Yes, i love watching the big 4 of the EPL play, they do play attractive football, but you cannot base them on the whole EPL because the other teams do not play that style.

Remember Seria A generates stars from when they were humble, likes like Nedved, Zidane, Crespo, Batigol, Kaka, now Pato, Thuram, i can go on forever....yes milan is a retierment home for many past-stars, but look at the foreigners that were brought in, like Pandev, Milto, Zarate, Vucinic, Ibra just to name a few that were nobody's and are turning into world class players. Most italian clubs have a great eye for talent (ing Juve is blind-sided at the moment) for bringing stars in the making.

One thing that Seria A needs to improve on is youth camps. The development of players is crucial both for league and national, something the Spainish league as done beautifully and have always admired that league for that particular reason.

yes....i am bored at work
