the tech house mix was not horrible, but it was not so much tech house and came off as prog to me. Sorry, but i realize it is hard to not slide tracks with tendencies of your preferred genre into it. Fair play for giving it a go the same, i certainly would have trouble playing things i am not familiar with.:)

I definitely mixed it like it was prog, and as you classify tech house as a lot of layering of sparse tracks I can see why it doesn't sound like tech house. I deliberately went for quite energetic, busier sounding tracks because that's what appeals to me.

I could have taken this two ways, actually. I found a lot of very mellow, quite melodic/atmospheric techy house and I could have taken this the trippy, more subdued way. I'd decided quite early, however, that I wanted to push the BPM and the energy out of tech house's comfort zone. I did find a lot of good tracks, actually, and I could see myself mixing this genre into progressive house.

i think we can both agree that new discoveries are the best part about doing something like this:)

I think this is my favourite one so far, well done. I remember not really feeling the flow of one of your epic house mixes, but here it was pretty much spot on. I really liked the tunes you chose, too. It was quite dark and proggy; something Digweed would put together these days.

Enjoyed the Sand Leaper's and montana's mixes as well.

found a few tracks that are actually quite nice, going to give this a bash either tonight or sometime this week and see how it turns out. realllllly tough to mix though.

Thanks a lot. It's pretty difficult to get a good flow with epic house because the tracks are incredibly long and have self-contained structures. Since tech house is the genre of the DJ tool it's quite easy to programme.

I've gotten nearly all the tracks for my deep house set but after a couple mixing sessions I can't seem to produce anything that sounds good, I'll give it a few more tries before just posting whichever sounds best.

OK folks this is my offering of Psytrance for this challenge.
I've selected tracks that build from proggy psy to more energetic stuff with a happy melodic vibe. Have stayed away from some of the darker stuff so some of you may think it's a bit cheesy, whatever give me some feedback coz I don't often play psy.
A few of the transitions are a little rough and I completely ed up the mix around 62-63 min mark as you will hear.:o
However I really have enjoyed putting this together and found some great tunes I probably wouldn't have otherwise including a tune from Sttomop, whom I've discovered over in the producers forum.
I have included one tune though that I'm hoping someone can ID for me. It's the track with the street fighter samples which is obvious. Grabbing the other posted mixes too.
Enjoy - G.
:)

Tracklist looks good, I played Indigo in Yang last month. :) That track is a little cheesy and I think it's annoying how that dude keeps talking about Ecstacy, but still a decent track.

I've heard this first track, nice way to start off the mix. Very smooth first transition, good n proggy 2nd track. Never heard this 3rd track, pretty cool, nothing mindblowing yet. Starting to bang here at about 21 minutes. Lowered the energy level a bit at 28 minutes, but not too bad, still pretty trippy :D REALLY digging this new track at 38 minutes, I've never even heard of Day.din, this is some more energetic prog stuff, quite tasty music. Ooh, a tad sloppy transition around 42 minutes, but not that bad. The bassline changing so drastically was the issue there. Picking up the energy quite a bit with this next track. Woah, you have a jarring transition at 47 minutes, kinda took me by surprise.

Coming into the home stretch: Mega trippy around 54 minutes now, this track doesn't really seem appropriate for the mix, simply because of how completely different it is from everything else. I thought you said you wanted to stay away from dark stuff! :disbelief Ah, I see what happened at 62-63 minutes, you let the Ital track play all the way out and then started your next track. Honestly, while I noticed it, it wasn't a bad enough transition to label it "completely ed up", but you lost some energy through it. I've never heard this ID track before, I wish I knew what it was, because it's pretty neat. I enjoyed your transition into Indigo, but this track seems just a tad out of place in comparison to your previous tracks, but a good finish.

Overall, I thought this mix was a very good attempt from someone who never spins psytrance. I felt like if you would have stuck in an extra track and left out the slower transitions, and maybe reorganized some of the less energetic tracks, you would have had a much better flow. I really enjoyed this, though, I hope you had fun mixing it!

Good grief, man, 32 tracks? How the hell am I supposed to keep up with this? :p

Anyways, listening now. 14 minutes through and I like it, I feel like I should be in front of a DDR machine or something :toothless At some points during the mix it seemed like the pitch changes were rather noticeable and awkward but it didn't hurt the overall feel of the mix. I really liked it, good job! :)
montana
jack, the mixing & the tunes was good, but i couldn't feel the mix or the vibe. even with the massive energy going on in the second half, i just don't know how to explain it really. but good effort anyhow

kopernikus, lovely tunes, well mixed but main problem with your mix was the programming or just the lack of programming. in many ways it felt like wallpaper, it didn't go anywhere and and many of the transitions just enchanced that even more.

ziptnf, the mixing is supposed to be blunt. but glad everyone liked the mix, it's all fun really.
