actually, i can't think of a more appropriate place: a challenge to get involved in an unfamiliar sub-genre of dance music by collecting tracks and making a mix.
it's silly to have like 7 house subgenre mixes and one all-inclusive 'techno' mix.
since this is a public forum and public contest, other opinions should be considered. i've voiced my opinion, and others have voiced theirs. |

This would have been true if it didn't have the inevitable side-effect of derailing the entire challenge and its purpose in favor of bickering on whether a genre is legit or not.
I'm sure you have the noblest intentions with this crusade of yours for a sub-genre's right to life, but face it, this isn't the time or place. |

No I never said anything along those lines. I just don't see the point of micro labeling everything. I'm fine with a description, "deep druggy techno".

actually my only intention is i want to hear multiple techno mixes from different styles and traditions as a result of the contest.
i find it amusing that chicago house and detroit house were accepted along with deep house.
but you're right, i don't want to get any more involved in de-railing the thread. |

Enter and pick a techno subgenre then. There's only one category for "drum 'n bass", but you don't care about that.
The rules say not to nominate very obscure genres, and if Deep Techno exists it's obviously a niche distinction. Ergo it gets dropped. If you want more techno represented, nominate something non-techno-heads have at least heard of. |

Even if I could nominate it, the odds of me getting it would be very small. But I wouldn't wish it on someone else anyway, because I can only think of about three other people on TA who could spin a set of it without doing some arduous digging.
I was going to nominate Acid House, but I thought trance needed some more representation. If you want to do the same with techno, get involved. |
