Austin, going to listen to yours on the way to work tonight. That tracklist seriously looks great.

Yep, I knew it was not even close to being "complete" I just wouldn't have the time this week to tweak out a proper tracklist so I just finished it as quickly as possible. A rush job no doubt, I'm not pleased with it at all after a couple listens.

I was having a lot of trouble mixing this stuff for some reason, not even sure why it was just really hard for me to establish a consistent flow. I just don't think deep house is really my thing, if that makes any sense. :(

edit: also, wow Change is a peaktime track? I just really don't get deep house at all I guess, sorry about that. :p

I enjoyed it man, although I'm easily pleased. I guess everyone wants to be able to post a perfect set, so don't be too hard on yourself. I think it's great that people here are willing to try and share something they wouldn't normally do. It is challenging stepping out of your own comfort zone and damn hard to make a great set with genres that are unfamiliar epecially in less than four weeks, although it's a great way to learn and explore.

Just to get things straight, Cosmic Gate stuff from around 1998 isn't exactly hardstyle, right. I should be looking more in the direction of things Luna and Pavo spin/spun? Other dj's or artists I should look into?

More pointers please, I'm pretty clueless atm :)

Adam420, great mix, great tunes but there was one horrendous trainwreck in there. brought everything down but you played another station then and that was nice.
Adam420
lol let me guess, you're referring to the transition out of Hazel, right? Yea, that is pretty awful. But thanks for listening to my mix and leaving comments. Glad you did enjoy it.

I am starting to listen to other people's mixes now.

Austin, I already listened to yours and really liked it man. Not all tracks I would have chosen for this mix, but it was very enjoyable. But you're a little hard on yourself. You obviously know that it will always sound worse to the person who recorded it than to others. You simply know where the little mistakes are hidden. Don't worry, I really didn't notice many of them at all and I'm sure that goes for anyone else.

System-J, same goes for you. I enjoyed your mix very much but it isn't exactly what I would have chosen considering the genre. Still, you were by no means far off. Like some have mentioned, it bears some similarity
to progressive house but is still most definitely within the techy side of things.

Ziptnf, I plan to listen to your during my morning commute tomorrow. I scanned through it and it sounds quite tasty. Everyone else, listens and comments to come in the next week.

See, I researched some of those labels and they were based out of Brooklyn and stuff, but I know some of their artists produce and play in Chicago. It's hard to find some truly Chicago-specific artists/labels, but the style that I mixed was fairly spot on: Groovy, funky house with soulful vocals. I hope you think so too :p

Had a lot of fun exploring the genre for a bit. There are some pretty long blends in this one. I don't know what d&b DJ's normally do (blends or cuts) as I know nothing about d&b mixing techniques. I just did what I thought sounded best.

This one was quite the tasty little morsel, with mostly unfamiliar tunes all over the shop and smooth mixing (except the already mentioned mix out of Gorecki). I just missed some more variation tunewise, although there are of course limits to how achievable that is within an hour or so.

Good work.

Cheers, thanks for listening. I tried to build up towards those last two tracks as smoothly as possible within an hour. It's a pretty tricky trade-off between variation in tracks and progression when all you've got is an hour (and a lack of time to dig deeper for more tunes).

Maybe I went a bit over the top there. Originally, I planned a few somewhat more jazzy tracks at the start of the mix, but that turned out .

Will check out that mix of yours basd.

Oh, and happy b-day
