Tracklist looks good, I'll try and have a listen soon.
By the way, your download link didn't work for me in FF. Strange, using IE I was able to download it perfectly fine. Whatever. |

As a regular triphop listener, I'm curious to hear what you put together. Not only in track selection, but even more so in mixing techniques.. |

I listened to it this morning (yay for having the opportunity to listen to your own music at work).
Overall, I thought this was a pretty nice mix. Technically, it's pretty sound. I could hear that the '02-ish Steve Porter-sound inspired you greatly, and I think you pulled it off pretty well. I love this sound!
My main point of criticism concerns your choice of mixing points. In quite a few transitions, I thought you let a track run on for too long before starting to mix in the next one. To me, this has a negative influence on the pace of your mix, and might contribute to the fact that it's plodding along too much (which you said so yourself as well, iirc). Bringing on the next track earlier gives a nice pace to the mix without you having to increase the BPM every once in a while.
Apart from this, I thought it was a well done mix. I certainly enjoyed your track selection, it was nice to hear some of these tracks again (in some cases after years). |

Never heard of it, and it sounds kinda strange. But I'm looking forward to hearing your mix. |

| Thanks for the comments, guys! Yeah I tend to be really conservative with my mixing points, and this is something I'm going to work on in the future. The tribal mix was done pretty quickly and haphazardly on a Thurs evening, so I didn't really have much time to plan ahead and check for ideal mixout points. |

Had a lot of fun exploring the genre for a bit. There are some pretty long blends in this one. I don't know what d&b DJ's normally do (blends or cuts) as I know nothing about d&b mixing techniques. I just did what I thought sounded best. |

Apparently some of these tracks aren't really deep house, or so I'm told, but seeing as I have really no idea what encompasses deep house I followed beatport... as lame as that is. Some of this stuff is a bit techy, so I'm really hoping people aren't upset that this isn't as "deep" as it should have been.
I actually liked a lot of the stuff I listened to while I was digging around, so I'm glad I got to do this if only for the fact that it exposed me to the genre a little more. I already owned a few of the tracks on here, but most of them were bought within the last couple weeks.
The mixing is not perfect at all, neither is the flow but I tried my best. There are a few spots in here where I left a kill switch on and didn't realize it. Beware a clashing bassline transition near the end. I had to bang this out at nearly the last second as I wont have any time next week to be fiddling around with a mix, so I went with this. Mixed on Ableton 7 with an Evolution UC-33e midi controller.
Anyways, hope it's at least somewhat deep and enjoyable. |
