And you see less people running around in KKK capes, but a lot more running around with swastika's tattoo'd on them.

With the exception of "poker night" at Chemy's place this is true... however, don't mistake the "neo-Nazis" as being in anyway similar to the Nazis other then in terms of racial hatred... which essentially is toward everyone except "Aryans"... which most of them cannot even properly define, as evidenced by the fact that many harbor hate toward ethnic groups that have an equal claim to Aryan lineage.

Well it depends. If you're talking segregation rights, then it is not just blacks that didn't have their full citizen rights, but also women - white women, who fought alongside the black men for their rights. However, since slavery ended so long ago there cannot possibly be any living relatives of slavery - so they can let that go. Slavery was banned in 1865 by the Thirteenth Amendment - the Holocaust is considered to have started in 1933 and continued through 1945 - only 64 years ago.

And when was the civil rights act passed? 1964 and it is still nothing but words on paper.

I said you were an ignorant schmuck because you think that by removing a tattoo you can stop nightmares.

Stop talking, the more you talk - the stupider (if that is even possible) you look.

As it hapens, i dont mind looking stupid so ill continue.

What i was saying is, that its a constant reminder of what yo went trough. Will removing it make the nightmares go away? Perhaps yes, perhaps not. But neither you nor i can make any claim on what will or what will not work until its tried. If by some coincidence that was all it took, then yay. No more nightmares. But in all likelihood it wouldn't work but so what, at least you tried something, you made an effort. But if you cant be arsed to even try at fixing things you havent got the right to complain about still having the same problem 50 years later.

i think removing a tatoo like that would do wonders for some people :conf: it's like a new you...a "time to move on and not let those memories control my future" type of thing. fresh start on life, etc...

With regard to the debate on the tattoos.... can we not all agree that this is a personal decision best left to the person... for some people it would be a catalyst for terrible memories; however, for others it would be part of their identity; moreover, some would likely also feel they are betraying the memories of those who didn't survive by removing a overt reminder to anyone who would see it.

Keeping those memories fresh is what allows such a small minority of people remain strong and thrive among the hatred. It allows us to remind ourselves and each other about these past atrocities as much as it allows us to remind the rest of the world. Consider these tattoos as a motivator to not allow history to repeat itself.

yea that's true too. i'm just more of a starter-over type i guess. i can't even really talk like i know how i'd be if i experienced that horrible stuff though.

I don't think you can just "get over" that. I just don't. If by "getting over" you mean starting a life, working, getting married, having children - they did all of that. But none of that can erase the tragedy of living through being in a camp and watching your parents get executed in front of you. Neo-Nazi's just spew hatred and idiocy and ignorance. 99.99% of the time, none of them even know what they're talking about. A Neo-Nazi doesn't even phase me, whatsoever. They are disrespectful and utterly for lack of better words, stupid.

//edit I'm lying when I say that they don't phase me, because they do piss me off when I see their stupid tattoo's and flags. But I do try to let it go.

What really gets me is that nobody seems to have a good reason to hate the Jews beyond the devout Christians who blame us for the murder of Jesus. Anybody care to shed some light on this?
