The main difference between tripods (aside from the weight/steadiness) is the head on them. Some tripods you can interchange the head, some you can't. What sort of photography you'll be doing should determine the type of head you want, whether it be a pan and tilt head, or a joystick-grip ball head, or something else.

I've never used a Dynex one before, so I can't tell you what they're like. All my tripods and heads are Manfrotto.

2 things to look for in a tripod.

the head and the stability of the legs. if the legs are flimsy, a little bit of wind will screw up your long exposure shot. personally, i'd spend a bit more money and buy something more decent than a dynex.

ya i figured the dynex was crap but i just had to mention it.

whats a good price for a decent one? $100?

ill probably buy one that is way more expensive than i need it for based on buying habits.

dynex = random china made stuff branded dynex

I would get a manfrotto, pay more, last forever.

you also might wanna buy used and save some money. usually people who spend a bit of money on gear will take care of it, so it's usually in good shape.

locally, look at the buy/sell forums on TPMG, RFD, and maybe you'll get lucky at POTN.

Do this^

2 of my 3 tripods are second hand, and as a result I have top quality stuff that I only paid about half the price for.

Any recommendations on photo editing software? I have just been using the basic crap that comes with the camera, which doesnt do much besides alter the color and exposure). I think its time to take things to the next level.

There are a ton of reviews and options. Seems some may be a bit advanced for my tastes (I am simply using my camera for my own use, and some software looks to be on a more professional level?)

Thoughts on Element, Lightroom, etc.....??
