:haha: I cant imagine!

thanks for the adivce everyone! vince I will def check that place out! I saw a package deal for the D90 at best buy for $1200 (camera, lens, strap, bag, charger, etc...) I will def compare prices!

cro: You are putting up a good argument, because colors are extremely important in the photos I want to take. Right now I am simply starting off with the travelling photo-taking, as I have 3 big vaca's coming up in the next 9 months. But afer that I would love to get into scenery. I have rarely taken photos of my own city and will probably start there, and of course at my home on the lake. I am assuming I will need a decent zoom lens for that (but what do I know, I just started reading up on this stuff a week ago). :conf:

sooo what people are saying is the 50D and the 5D are better than Nikons? in what ways?

^Sorry for all the questions, I just want to get this right as its a decent amount on money!!

:tongue2

did you check www.dpreview.com ? ?they have excellent and thourough reviews of all the dslrs we are talking about.

You honnestly can't go wrong with either ones, but I still prefer Canon for their lenses and they served me very well all those years.

The 50D is a few hundred dollars more than the D90, closer to the D300 price.

If you are wanting to spend the little extra I would go with the just new released Nikon D300s.

As far as the 5D, that is out of your price range.

EDIT: ^^ the website malek posted is great info..

I was mentionning a used 5D, which should be under a 1000$.

Obviously not the new 5D mk2 which rocks and is sitting proudly on my desk:toothless :toothless :toothless

I got a Nikon D60 for christmas with 2 lenses. i exchanged it 4 days later for a canon xsi with an 18-200 lens. soooo much better and i dont have to swap or carry around lenses like a doof. its perfect for what i need it for as of now....

if you were a beginner i would start with a canon xti!
