going out and actually shooting is the best practice you can get.

check out some basics online cocerning rule of thirds and composition, and maybe some technical stuff like what aperture is and what it does. other than that, i still stand by my original comment on actually going out and seeing what the camera can do. experiment.

and if you really feel like it, make assignments for yourself. take shots of people, buildings, b&w, shoot certain colors, basically anything.
