hdr is awesome but its not something you can do to every photo cuz it would look boring (like people shooting an entire event with a fisheye lens). |

| im starting to think maybe the Nikon 5000 or the Canon EOS Digital Rebel T1i........they both meet my needs and arent so far advanced that I would be lost as a beginner. Anyone tried either of these? |

go with the t1i. |

imo there's no significant upgrade in the T1i when compared to the xsi. might as well save some money and put it towards another lens. don't think about the body too much. there are plenty of people taking awesome pictures with older bodies.
so just dive in and buy something. and then go out and shoot shoot shoot. :) |

lol dont worry I have been doing my research and "photo dictionary" studying, but I wont wait too long. I want to have a handle on at least the basics of whatever I purchase before I go on vaca in late November ;) |

+1, save the $200 or so and get a nice lens. Unless you want the video capabilities for your vacation. |

Thats what I bought! just purchased with a lens and a few accessories!!
I decided to go with it because it just seemed like the best choice for me as a beginner. AND because I got a huge deal online from Best buy: it was $50 off the store price and free shipping. Went to the store yesterday, though, and played with it and asked all my questions, just so that I felt secure in my decision ;)
cant wait til it gets here, I am going to go photo-happy!
:D :D :D
thanks again, guys, you have actually been really helpful and honest, which is exactly what I need, considering I am new to this and its a decently big purchase ;) |

congrats! i'm assuming the 18-55mm?
one other small purchase you can make is the nifty fifty. it's really cheap but is a pretty good lens. |

yup, I got all the starter stuff (18-55). Got a one-shoulder weather-proof DSLR bag that I saw in the store (kinda expensive but worth it!!), Sandisk 8GB EXTREME III SDHC SD Card Class 6, Canon camera strap, etc.....
Just the basics. I want to learn my camera first before I go run around getting add-on's and fancier stuff that I have no clue about LOL. Also, figure out my photography style and needs before buying more lens, etc. ;) :)
thanks again guys!! I was a little nervous about taking the plunge while not knowing a lot, but you guys def made my decision-making a little easier :) <3 <3 <3 |
