Is that Lady Gaga? I heard an interview with her the other day. She was bullting about how she's an accomplished musician (pffft) and that she organises 'high art' exhibitions (her words, not mine). This led into a discussion on pop music where she proclaimed that pop music isn't lowbrow, and that her fusion of it with her art exhibitions proves that.
At this point, the interviewer said: "so, do you honestly believe that the lyrics 'I wanna take a ride on your disco stick' aren't lowbrow?" There was a huge pause down the phone before a very forced and confused "yes".
In short: she is a ing moron.

Yeah, I'd actually love to hear it. What was the radio station? Perhaps they do podcasts of their main shows, like a majority of the stations seem to be doing.

This is exactly the same interview I listened to, though it ends short of what I was talking about. They must have edited it out because it made her sound like an idiot. Right after the bit with the beeps and "we'll let you get onto your next interview", Matt said "just one last question for you..."

Well, I don't see that as some kind of an artistic compromise; if accesible music is what she does best, then all power to her. I consider 'Bad Romance' to be an almost perfect pop song. Then she makes those references to Hitchmovies while singing about kinky sex, and you can't help but love her.
I'm biased, though, she's quickly become a big guilty pleasure of mine.

I don't understand how someone, who's able to create & perform songs with a certain amount of complexity like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNq1jSqakIQ , is willing to evolve towards shallow "simple, soulless music". :(
