Yes, but that is a terrible argument.

You can find any of those things in virtually any genre.

Why don't you just be honest to yourself and others and just leave it at "I like trance music, and I don't have to have a reason for it"

Many people judge her only based on her music, but again, that's not really the thing she's putting the biggest effort into.

What else should musicians be judged on? Being reasonable, their music is the only thing they should be judged on.

Trance is the marijuana of EDM....almost everyone tries it and some don't like it and never try it again. Others love it and continue with it for years on end and never try anything else. For others it leads to stronger and better things but every once in awhile its always nice to go back to.

Well if their music is popular enough to be played on mtv then their music clips.

Also their technical proficiency with instruments a lot of people who aren't into edm seem to focus on. As well as lyrics. I don't concider lyrics to be directly part of music (if a person's focus on lyrics is to do with the sound of words and sounding good, that is musical, but the meanings of words I don't believe is directly musical).

That's ridiculous. If a person makes great music but crap film clips, that shouldn't affect your opinion of their music. Perhaps of the person overall though.

Those things form part of the music.

Yet you said she was a moron when you had heard her interview.

She's not only a musician. She's a performer, a model, a part of your daily news. We're not talking about some low-key Isreali psytrance DJ whose music is everything he represents, she is a pop star.

Now that I think of it, not even when people were discussing Burial, back in the day when he was still anonymous, you couldn't rule out his elusiveness as something completely separate from his musical output. It's ironical when you consider he was a total opposite of Gaga yet he made mainstream tabloid media. Like you can't remain anonymous and famous at the same time in this media-driven society, so the better way is to embrace it, and not to fight it.

From what I've seen so far, there are many people who say "Lady Gaga sucks" just because they've probably heard Paparazzi too many times on the radio, or perhaps the thought of a woman having a wiener repulses them. There's more this bitch has to offer.

It could also be that her songs are absolute . They are shallow in every way possible and her attempt at being some sort of revolutionary (may not be the right word, but it's the only one that comes to mind) artist is an obvious failure, you need only listen to one of her songs like Just Dance or Poker Face. I don't claim to have heard all of her songs but if those two are any indication of her style then I think I'm lucky that I haven't heard more.

In other words, Lady Gaga is everything that is wrong with music and the people who make it. She is a pseudo-philosopher that thinks she can be some sort of rennaisance artist even though every word she sings is as shallow as a puddle in the sidewalk.

Did you miss the part where he talked about a ty music video affects your opinion of the person overall?

Try to pay attention, please.

For the average listener, there isn't.

This mentality actually really bums me out. Its so depressing sometimes when I see a few kids on the dance floor with their "insert epic trance label here" T-shirts on with their arms crossed waiting for me to play "the trance". Specially when the room is going off and theres just three dudes pouting cause they can't understand the concept of a journey.

Yes, I play trance, but its a tool just like all the other genres that encompass a set that ultimately makes the journey we are all on during a set.

I hate to say it, but if you just want to hear the top 10 Audiojelly trance tracks in a set, im not the dj for you. If you are in for a progressivehousetrancetechgroovemelodicemotional adventure through music, im for you.

Rant over :D

As Lews was so kind to point out, she is a moron. Her music sucks too, but that's a separate issue. However, the two very often go hand in hand. Intelligent people make good music, morons tend not to.

Exactly. This is why pop culture is such bull. Celebrities are worshipped, fussed over, discussed and photographed, day after day. In the end, the attention they receive isn't for their talent as a singer, artist or anything else; it's their sheer talent for marketing. Madonna is a prime example of this.

Yes, there are people who genuinely enjoy what I would consider awful music (you appear to be one of them), and that's fine. However, in my perfect world, the people who make music would be close to anonymous. I have always hated the marrying of music with politics, money or any other issue (i.e. Hurricane Carter). For me, music should be above all that, and that's why it annoys me to see some wit plying music (awful as it may be) and using that as a crutch to support other views or endeavours, knowing full well that the slobbering, mouth breathing masses will be right behind saying "we love you Lady Gaga, we read about you in the paper, you're famous and we want to be a part of your life." Outside criminal activities, celebrity worship is one of the crassest and destructive facets of Western culture.

Such as? What else has she genuinely got to contribute to society at large besides the poorly written inane splashes of noise she calls 'music'? Besides, I don't even think she writes her own tracks. As if she ing knows how to work a synth. None of her tracks seem to feature traditional instruments, though I'm prepared to be corrected there. That's another facet of pop music/celebrity worship that pisses me off; half the dick heads getting praise for 'making music' aren't making it at all.

To clarify this whole post, I'm not referring to pop groups like Coldplay or U2, I'm speaking of names like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, cat Dolls, Pink, Britney Spears et cetera.

Maybe it was him who should have payed attention since nowhere before did I talk about her solely as a musician.

Yes, but you say it like it's a bad thing. Average listener gets what he deserves due to his laziness, ignorance, and lack of curiosity. No artist could change that, I'm afraid.
