there shouldn't be a BUT in that sentence EVER. No if ands of buts man. in that sentence the BUT should not exist. |
But why? Do you not think people who exercise caution/use good judgment have fewer-no incidences of being victimized? |

no. i don't think that at all. the most cautious smart people can have happen to them also. the world is random. i honestly think it really doesn't make a difference.
if you don't get raped, you get robbed, if you don't get robbed you get stabbed, or shot or sick. random yo. |

I gotta disagree on that..yes, the world is random BUT not that random..
For example, a woman goes to sleep with her window open. A random rapist looking for a random female notices her window is open and lets himself him. Rapes and kills her. This scenario has taken place many, many times. Yes, it may seem random. She was not targeted BUT she left her window open and if not for that act, her fate would have been different.
I always make sure windows and doors are locked. My husband thinks I'm obsessive about it but I would rather avoid any unforeseen random ... |

Number 3, do the guys in this thread honestly think that they are going to change the minds of the masses to make it acceptable to molest girls if they are dressed slutty? Do you even know how obsurd this sounds. Are you looking for a green light? Cuz it ain't going to happen.
|
I couldn't agree more....
Of course girls who dress slutty get more cat calls or attention from guys, but to say that they deserve to be harassed is ing retarded.
Reminds me of my grandmothers mentality....and she's 91....and has dementia. |

I agree with both of these statements. Girls who wear clothing that is very revealing are screaming for attention. And attention they will get; both wanted and unwanted. However, girls who wear very revealing clothing should not be surprised, and should even expect that there will be guys who try to cross the line.
Do they deserve it? No. Is it acceptable? No. Will it happen? If the girl wears very revealing clothing all the time, then it probably will.
I don't think many people in this thread are saying these girls deserve this kind of treatment, but it should be expected. The risk of guys trying to cross the line comes with the package. That's just the way things are. |

And what precisely is the relevance of any of this? This seems to be a red herring, an emotional trump card being played in order to stifle any debate about the real issue, which is that the circumstances surrounding this so-called "crime" seem to tell a different story from the so-called "victims".
The philosophical issue of whether or not these girls, or any girls "deserve[d]" to get sexually assaulted or raped is not in dispute; the facts of the case are, and it's highly disturbing that a group of guys are being strung up by the media and police over nothing but unsubstantiated allegations in the face of contradictory evidence, and equally disturbing on a larger scale that this appears to be the norm in society, that authorities and the general public have so little interest in the truth, and that the principle of "innocent until proven guilty" seems to have fallen by the wayside.
And FYI, the butt should always exist. No butt, no strut. |
