I gotta disagree on that..yes, the world is random BUT not that random..

For example, a woman goes to sleep with her window open. A random rapist looking for a random female notices her window is open and lets himself him. Rapes and kills her. This scenario has taken place many, many times. Yes, it may seem random. She was not targeted BUT she left her window open and if not for that act, her fate would have been different.

I always make sure windows and doors are locked. My husband thinks I'm obsessive about it but I would rather avoid any unforeseen random ...

lol. so then so she deserves to get raped because her window was open?

i shouldn't live in a world where i expect to get raped if it happens to be a hot night outside and i open my window. i don't want to be scared to do anything.

sorry, but guys brought this on themselves. Aaron you say that the media is stringing these guys up? maybe then men in general should change their own image. yes everyone assumes that these guys did bad stuff, but that wouldn't happen if it wasn't the norm that guys in general do bad stuff and take advantage of chicks. maybe these guys should have been smarter and not followed stupid chicks. it goes both ways. if they didn't want to be accused of rape then they shouldn't have followed random girls and been in the wrong place at the wrong time. can't they get a different way?

Hilarious. So no woman deserves to have something bad happen to her, ever, no matter how stupid or reckless she is, but if something bad happens to a guy, then it's obviously either his fault or the fault of men in general and he totally had it coming.

Brilliant A++++!

In any event, whatever reputation "men" may have is immaterial to the facts of this case.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and I'd venture that the claim of 5 greaseballs somehow managing to make their way into your taxi, your building and your apartment without your consent and without anybody along the way (taxi driver, passers-by, building security) noticing anything suspicious is... well, pretty ing extraordinary.

no. i don't think that at all. the most cautious smart people can have happen to them also. the world is random. i honestly think it really doesn't make a difference.

if you don't get raped, you get robbed, if you don't get robbed you get stabbed, or shot or sick. random yo.

i never said she would deserve to get raped..you missed my point...

The scenario was in reply to your above comment..we unfortunately live in a world with people that will do bad things and in many cases, the choices we make can have a direct impact on our safety..

I'm sorry but this is the world we live in. So ya, even if I want to keep my window open on a warm night, I won't because I am aware of the evils that exist outside my window. Nobody deserves to have anything bad happen to them but many, many tragedies are ones that could have been avoided.

I think I have been vocal about the fact that I was attacked at Circa two and a half years ago. Do I think I deserved it..no ing way! However, I did make some bad decisions that had an overall impact on my safety. I was in a mostly deserted part of the club by myself. Big mistake. If I had stuck with my friends and not wandered off alone, I would not have put myself in that vulnerable of a position.

tell me exactly why it's irrelavent? because i am definitely assuming that by the way these guys looked and the fact that they were accused by these girls that they definitely were total douchabags and are guilty. have you seen their photos? come on now dude! if i looked like that I would damn well stay the away from girls just in case they may think i am trying to rape them.

just like the guys in this thread are assuming that the girls were probably dressed slutty and leading them on. anything could have happened. imagine the girls were threatened in some way at the party. what if they were drugged? are they still stupid for going back to the hotel? and yeah, don't accept drinks from strangers, blah blah blah. it's easy to slip something to someone even if they are holding on to there drink for dear life.

it wasn't an apartment. it was a hotel. 99 percent of the time a taxi driver is talking on the cell phone and wants you out of the cab ASAP so you don't puke in there. hotel staff assume it's new years and a little party in a room is happened. nothing ing weird about that. and obviously they had to take a couple of taxis so it wasn't as obvious to as something strange going on.

PS. you guys know that this is just a circular debate. no one wins. we all lose cuz people ing suck.
