What we found was that Exxon, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Shell and BP have response plans that are virtually identical. The plans cite identical response capabilities and tout identical ineffective equipment. In some cases, they use the exact same words and made the exact same assurances.

kind of a good thing that BP makes "obscene profits" eh? now they can pay for the damages without going bankrupt and leaving taxpayers on the hook.

i would still recomend shorting htem. when the bbl total leakage comes out and they are paying 4300 per barrel in damages and penalties, lets see how much of their revenue is eaten up.

This spill is going to make ixtoc look like a cakewalk. I hope we see 100 dollars per bbl by end of summer.

I said like a few days afterward I should have shorted it, and I definitely should have :p

Just part of me isn't too keen on the idea of shorting something just because you never know what could happen and I feel like I missed the opportunity when I had it.

Why? I want our dependency on oil to diminish as much as possible too, but this would just hurt EVERYONE. Small business owners, the average citizen, etc.

That's kind of heartless and suggests that everyone who wants to make a livable wage would also like to be making one while driving a Ferrari. It's not enough that your principles have no efficacy. They also seem to be missing a moral compass.

Where is the fund that helps pay for all of the creatures of the sea being killed?

Humanity has a lot to learn; and one thing to learn is that no price tag can be put on the lives of the creatures in the sea.

Nor do I think paying people off will help either

Humans are to blame;
Humans are the ones who will ultimately experience the Karma of their actions

On a whole I am apart of that experience and I am deeply perturbed by the actions of a few

Think of the US economy; is this money really going to help clean up the mess?

:(
