Dang! That sucks. I know there's a scene in Mexicali. I'm tempted to go on Saturday to see Lee Burridge at the Mexicali Zoo. lol But I already missed last weekend at the club so I dunno if my promoter would be too happy if I miss out two weeks in a row.

Are you ing kidding me?

180,000 people and only 100 go to hospital and one (sadly) dies?

Those ratios are outstanding for any public event let alone a major Rave.

Agreed.

It's unfortunate that the girl died however she is responsible for her own actions... it is easy to point the finger at the promoter... not to mention these news articles are making 'raves' sound like the devil. We went through all this in Toronto back in 2001 and it effectively killed off the 'rave' scene in public venues...mind you, up to that point, the biggest 'rave' we had only had 20,000 ppl.

I'm amazed at the size of this party though, thats quite a lot of EDM fans. Impressive.

you've gotta be kidding me, I was just happened to tune in to KTLA5 news, and they were STILL covering news about EDC and the death of the 15 yr old. However, they were shooting it LIVE outside of KING2, and they were saying there are some Angry Ravers doing some protest outside KING2 now... but the video shows NOTHING...

I don't like the direction this is going guys... what does it have to do with King2??

Back to the underground. Yes!!! Isn't this what some of you guys wanted? Raves back to underground because it was getting too mainstream??

WOW - I know EXACTLY what you mean. I was living in Toronto in 2001 and went through it as well.

It reminded me then of the Barry Legg/Criminal justice act did back in the mid 90's in UK, which killed the legendary raves.

The way the media are dealing with this are the same thing.

Did anyone see the KTLA (loaded) poll result?

Should Dangerous Raves be banned?
20% Yes
80% No

LOL.

plain and simple, that stupid girl had no place being there in the first place.

I think it's fair to point the finger at the promoter. It might be a different story if it was an 18 year old girl that died instead of a 15 year old girl.

Did the promoter make a business decision to make this a 16+ event after calculating how much money they would lose if they made it 18+?

From what I understand, EDC would have been all-ages if not for the Coliseum Commission insisting on 16+. Then, after agreeing to a 16+ age limit, the promoter did not enforce the age limit. We've read several statements that security was not checking identification upon entrance. EDC 2010 ended up being an all-ages event. How convenient for the promoter.

That was hacked. Come on, you think that's what the majority of KTLA'rs think?

She ed up, her parents ed up, not the promoter.

So I'm guessing EDC will be 18/21 over + drug dogs?

I was impressed how huge was the event in terms of the numbers. Kudos to Insomnia for being able to do that.

Statistically, 180,000 with 1 death is, really a super low number.

But that death (RIP), will hound Insomnia til the end and may cause bankruptcy. Its Insomnia's fault that a 15-year old got inside the venue thats supposed to be 16+ since it was their event. I foresee pointing of the blame between Insomnia and whoever they hired as Security agency, etc who was supposed to handle the entry. Currently, a lot of people are already coming out saying they did not carded.

I agree fully though that its not Insomnia's fault that the girl died. Its the girl, her parents and her friends, whoever she was with. But the law and more so, the politicians, will not distinguish or care about that. They are looking for a scapegoat. And Insomnia will be the one to take all the blame. With media on top of it (KTLA just shot a segment outside of King King saying there was a protest of ravers even if it was just a Do Lab party tonight), it just forces the hand of the authorities to find someone at fault.

Bottomline, the EDM scene and the girl named Sasha are the ones who lose the most.

KTLA stupidity

This is why I stick to undergrounds.
