How do you know that the girl didn't lie to him and tell him she was going to see Panic at the disco? How do you know she wasn't a straight A student? How do you know that she didn't tell her dad the truth and said that it was just water?

You don't.

We can't blame the father for he didn't know OR failed to realize. Because I am sure your parents knew every single little detail of your life when you were 15...

Thank you! First person I've heard/read that from. And I totally agree.

Even in an instance where someone is 18, Insomniac strictly enforces the age limit, the person gets their drugs from a known source & checks them through PillReports, & stays hydrated, something like this can happen.

All those steps reduce risk, you can't just vilify one party; everyone dropped the ball.

The father protesting was not the father of girl that died. It was a man who took his daughter to the doctor on Monday. He said his daughter complained of feeling lousy with an ear ache and her mouth hurt from the "concert" she went to. The doctor later told him it was because of drugs in her system over the weekend.

The father even thought it was "weird" how his daughter was dressed in short shorts but didn't think much of it because to him it was a concert.

Really parents, a concert that goes till 2AM with your daughter in weird clothing?

If I was a straight A student. It would only take me 5 minutes to figure out 90% of these people are on some and to not take anything from anyone. Walking into the party kids were already talking about how many they were going to take and what they had on them.

The father has a right to be upset? Of course. But to start picketing the colisieum immediately because his daughter had a sip of someone's water? Come on now, really?

It is sad that Sasha died..it's also sad for the kids that died coming back from Jujubeats back at Santa's Village eons ago..it's also sad about those kids being good samaritans helping a stranded car on the side of the road and getting hit by another car full of partiers on the way back from Indio years ago too. It's all sad.

And not that it matters..but my parents did know where I was when I was 15. I had to be home by sunset.

Your assuming the promoter was responsible for security. I doubt they were Insomniac employees. I would imagine these are the same people The Coliseum uses for all their events.

I used to throw all ages parties back in my days. And I can tell you that most venues I worked with, made ME hire security. I had a security company I worked with for all my events. Why did I go with them? Cuz they were all off duty cops and had connections with the city, so whenever the Police would get called in, they would handle it. However, there are some venues that want you to work with a specific company

Back then rule of thumb was 1-security for every 50 people of the legal capacity plus 4 at the door, 2 searching and 2 walking the lines.

Out of all the events I did, I only had problems at 1 of them at a recreation center in a city owned park. We sold out and we still had a few hundred people in line. The kids got mad and rushed the doors. Security quickly closed them and we called the cops. By the times the Cops showed up, the kids had already lit a tree on fire and had tagged the entire building. The cops started pepper spraying the crowd. And guess what? I took responsibility for it. I had to get my entire team and clean up all the graffiti off the walls, I lucked out I didn't get in trouble for the tree but the cops weren't very happy. And guess what this all boiled down to? That I decided to save money and hire a cheaper security company that had no experience dealing with party crowds. They lost control of the crowd and from that day on, I hired the off duty cops.

The company Insomniac hired does a lot of events & concerts, but I can tell you they don't train their personnel at all. My sister and a friend used to work for them. They hire anyone, then they give you a list of events and you choose which event you want to work. And that's it! That's why a lot of them are cholos, its easy and quick money.

I would not be shocked if Insomaniac had to use the security company they used because of the venue. Most state/local government/etc whatev venues force you to use certain production groups to build everything, security, etc. It's all unionized stuff.

Don't know for sure, but I have been a part of several (non-music) productions in both SF and LA(and Vegas once) and we were basically forced to use the groups we worked with at the venue.

They use CSC Security? That big one at these venues/events.

Lol, you should be working at FOX News.

I'm glad you approve. :D

Seriously though 1 death doesn't strike me as out of line for an event this size. Dont get me wrong, it sucks, but I feel as though if someone is going to a rave and doing drugs theres kind of an implicit assumption of risk that they might get in trouble. The fact that this girl was underage sucks but its not like her age was the reason she died.

PS - Nobody is giving away drug laced water to strangers. It's way easier for these kids to lie to their parents and say they were "tricked" than to admit that they were all intentionally popping pills.

I can attest to this. Most student organizations at my school do these events to raise money for their student organization. CSC will give them a good group rate if the organization can send a certain number of people to work the event, etc. I believe the security guards who wear the blue jackets are actually trained, but the ones in yellow searching people, collecting tickets, blocking off entrances, etc, are all just civilians.

However at EDC, it didn't really seem like most of the security were from student organizations at colleges, but rather scum off the street looking to make a quick buck, and for me that was fine, because my friends and I were able to bribe our way past certain situations this past weekend.

That's mostly true...most people would not waste their drugs on some random person. But this is a sick world man. There is a possibility some pervert thought he could make something happen by getting her out of her system with some E. I doubt that's what happened...but a possibility.

I retract my statement.

CSC are the three worst letters I can ever hear/see. Ugh. I always get much happier if I ever come across a cool guy/someone doing thier job proplerly, but it's rare. Always my biggest issue with my job, having to deal with them.

Think they had different security for VIP area's. At least they were all wearing black suits and seemed to be a little more professional.

It is a ed up world no doubt, i just get annoyed when people try to make it seem EVEN MORE ed up than it already is. This "possibility" is something that everyone clings to when "daddy's little angel" comes home ed up on thizz because she would NEVER do something like that on her own, it's just those crazy raves where everyone is running around giving away free drugs to unsuspecting kids!

PS - my security pat down guy looked exactly like morgan freeman. Being groped by him was one of the highlights of my trip.
