If that's the afterparty I'm thinking of, where most of the people were techno/tech house heads, Sean MORE than held his own in the music "discussions". More like schooled them. If Brian did say that (I didn't hear it), and that's the best he could come up with, then I think we know what kind of music turns people into idiots :p
Love ya Brian ;) |
We'd have to ask Sarah to confirm, but I remember Sean Tyas began talking (half-jokingly) about my minimal/techno mix, which Sarah put in the CD player. We then had a very light-hearted back and forth about techno versus trance. I told him I respect him for his talents, though I think trance is garbage LOL. All in good fun.) |

i just dont get why hollywood clubs do this. this just means they will be doing this for six months, then after that they are begging people to come in, then eventually the club has to close its doors...
do they not see a pattern or are they that dumb? from an investor perspective, they are not very smart. |

All in good fun for sure. Was an epic afterparty just watching everyone go at it lol. Especially Sean and Sarah! Definitely no hard feelings. |

Since when has just listening to any one genre of music turned anyone into an idiot? Only if you like the other genres of music. The point is to relieve stress and relax mentally when listening to music. If trance reduces stress levels the most for a particular person, and he/she doesn't like other genres of music, perhaps it is best for that person to listen only to trance. |
I was half-joking. The post was meant to be comical. To each their own, I say. If you want to listen to trance only, that's your thing... cool, have at it. I don't think music should only be used to relieve stress. It has multiple functions. It can wake you up, it can put you to sleep, it can inspire you, it can make you think of a loved one, it can encourage mental and spiritual growth. Maybe that's why Brian says trance turns you into an idiot. He's projecting the idiocy caused by minimal-tech onto to trance music. ;) Haha. Just kidding. No need to get so serious. Relax. Play some trance. :tongue2 :haha: |

A lot of them do it specifically for that reason.
They make a club super-exclusive so that it gains a bunch of hype. After 6-12 months, when it's at the height of its popularity, they sell it to somebody and go start another one. |

| I listened to the tracks Brian has on his myspace. Just not my thing, the word basic comes to mind. The music just never takes off. I would expect for it to unfold in some kinda theme, but it just sits there. Best way to describe it. Almost like listening to just metronome off a keyboard. |

I get that...but they have to sell it to 'somebody'... but who is this somebody...
In the long term (ie two years) it fails, so I just don't get it. |

I guess I needed a smiling emoticon to get the sarcasm. |
