hes been at this for 2-3 years, is only 21 and is internationally recognized. He must be doing something right. |
remixing rapture and tiesto is not doing something right. |

That being said he seems like a genuinely decent guy if you watch/listen to some of his interviews. None of the hyper inflated d-bag ego that too many of the younger DJs are carrying around these days. |
i can vouch for the fact that he is a super nice guy. i love when he comes to town. hes very chill and has no attitude. |

this is crazy
so ppl with tickets from 31st get in for free - thing is these were $50+
general admission for 7th = $20 on the door

people who bought tickets for NYE will be getting full refunds, minus the service fee from third party ticket agents. the situation that happened at 99 Sudbury was not the promoter or venue's fault. if someone must be blamed it should be the losers outside trying to push their way in (many of which did not even have tickets). the dj is still paid but the promoter is losing out on revenue from all the comps to make things right to the people. i think it is more than fair. |

people may love him and he puts on a great show but his music is still commercial garbage

musical elitist in what sense? do i really have to like bad music and horrible remixes? i don't even listen to trance and i know that when you remix something like rapture you have to do something incredible to top what has been already done. what i've heard here is generic house that has been overdone to death by a billion people. what new does he bring to the table? nothing. |

Don't sweat it forum peeps will always find something to hate on (not referring to TA only). Don't take it personally or you'll spend many a frustrated days defending crap that in reality doesn't matter. Everybody likes their own and if you've found yours then just be happy about it and don't let them change that one bit.
Keep in mind no matter what genre anyone likes there was most definitely people around hating on it when it blew up too... |

this is not what I was trying to say
people who have valid tickets purchased for the event on 31st, can access the event on Jan 07 for free
tickets for NYE event were at least $50 (early birds)
people who do not have tickets from 31st, can get tickets at the venue on Jan 07 for $20 (might be a ticketmaster link as well, as per promoter contact)
so whoever did not refund their tickets yet (either paid by CC or by cash), can attend for "free" (having paid $50+ earlier), and regular peeps like me, who will be able to get in for $20
this is my understanding
OR - even if you refunded the ticket already, you can still attend for free?
edit: nvm - all CC tickets will be refunded by then. So I'm guessing all you have to do is to show your original proof of purchase and you get in for free. Just re-read the press release again. |

^^^ yup so basically whatever your service fee was (generally $5-10) is the price you pay for a $20 ticket for the makeup show. Saving even $15 doesn't make up for a crappy NYE countdown but when you compare it to what has happened before and could've easily happened again (no make up show, no refund) it's a damn sweet deal.

I'd agree with that but I'd also say security was highly understaffed, untrained and unprofessional. So if blame needs to goto anyone it would be as you said the people for not behaving properly (his fan base is young/mainstream though so you can anticipate that on NYE) and whoever arranged for the security at the event. Also saying "more tickets at the door" was a huge mistake for a NYE event as people often leave planning for the last minute. I bet that 1 line alone brought a couple hundred people to the event looking for tickets that didn't exist. But when you look at the reputation and monetary damage the event promoters are suffering for this it's pretty harsh
All I know is I respect security at a lot more venues after the NYE show. I'd say deadmau5 in KH on Canada was a comparable crowd (young, antsy and unfamiliar with raves) and the security handled that bastardly crowd flawlessly. |
