How often do you go out to clubs to hear music? (pg. 10)

Kit, really, Stop the immature swearing and cursing, it's not helping you making your point, it doesn't make u sound cool, it just makes u sound immature. when can u ever be not so full of yourself and try go get close and personal :D i 'm not commenting on your tracks or DJ sets, you already admit yourself that you play predominantly european producers. :D

Please don't confuse my work with something that pretends to be "up and coming" because it's not. It's again a big missassumption from you that it's contesting for prime time on the dancefloor and proves again how tunnelvisioned you really are regarding music and it's purpose

I just do what i do and i am happy with that, so are the people who like my music. That has nothing to with one's reference, hindsight or forward thinking.

For example: I can bake burgers for a living, because that's what i like to do, but still go to 5 star michelin restaurants every week right? taste and scene knowledge can co-exist right? my output does not need to reflect what's current in the scene, it needs to reflect my feelings. But just to close this off, this topic, as many others, is an "agree to dissagree" topic. We don't need to seek consensus or overall thruth

So i leave it at this, not looking for your approval on my opinion, nor trying to convert you to my point of view.

"It's really weird, you know, because you never know when you're in the studio, however loud you play the record, the effect it will have on the crowd." Of course, once Rollo finally did hear it out in a club, he got the full picture, and it surprised the hell out of him. "I think that's one of the best, most exciting things about dance music is that records do take a life of their own once they come into the club. Once they go on those big speakers they suddenly they have a power that they just don't have anywhere else. When you make one, you don't know what ingredients are going to do that, so you can't set out and formulize it or anything."

- Rollo from Faithless.

Speaking just as a clubber, there are entire genres that I've played at home and just not understood, but when you go out and hear those same tracks on a big soundsystem suddenly you can understand why they exist. It's not just the added dimension of the soundsystem, although there are countless records that "come to life" sonically in a club, but the way they can be DJ'd and the effect they have on the crowd. Similarly, the dance music I liked changed a lot when I started clubbing, because a lot of the stuff I'd liked as a teenager on my headphones was very unsatisfying to hear on a dancefloor.

Poor Raphie can't handle some adult words, who's being immature now?

I never said I played anything other than European producers, whats you're point? I play music from all around the world, geographic location has very little to do with sound.

You didn't make any comments about my DJ sets? Really?

Simple example: go to Storytellers Soundcloud, listen to some of the people he follows and again to some of they people they follow. within 5 clicks you are with some of the hottest producers worldwide and labels Kit probably never heard of. let alone played them. That's more my point

Get ed mate, you're a massive knob who's contributed nothing but bull around here. You're as bad as Robby Rox but come across as actually intelligent enough to take seriously. I was happy to admit that I wasn't trying to convert anyone to my point of view;

Personally, I think it vindicates my position. But I don't really mind if you disagree with me.

But you jumped in and started , so deal with the consequences rather than playing the victim, you aren't very good at it.

I started no beef with you at all until you started your usual patronising e about how my local club scene is 3 years behind yours, so I must not know what I was talking about, and then claimed that acts on Storyteller's page were so much more current than my taste. In point of fact, you've clearly never bothered to check one of my tracklistings or you would know I was playing most of that stuff 3 years ago, and am still enjoying it at the moment, along with a massive range of other stuff.

I'm putting you in the same box as Robby, on ignore. I can do without patronising, inane, asinine and wrongheaded stupidity that people like you dish out.

PS
I was finding this thread quite educational until you jumped in and started making personal comments. As usual, one of the TA trolls has turned a good discussion into a personal flamefest. Why did you come back to post here? I thought you got pissed off when MSZ et al. slammed your mastering service and vowed never to return??
Raphie
if i click on your march promo i come on an empty link?!?

BTW I am far from a victim :D going to ignore u from now on, it's just no use......
Zyklon_Jay

Yep, I discovered that just after posting that post actually :stongue:
I'm an ancient trance cracker, I'm not fully converted yet so I'm still unfamiliar with the other scenes, will checkout the md more often !

Can't ignore that, that's from my teens when i started clubbing  put some Grandmasterflash inbetween Herbie hanand oyur golden, looking for a bit more obscure 808 , try Egyptian Lover, now all those Jonzun Crew and Afrikaa Bambataa start to get in my head again... Damn you Damn .... :)

This is the good stuff.
Zyklon_Jay
i made that demo for my friend's dad:p

Raphie
Which is fine right? music from that time was great, great tunes are here today as well... doesn't bite eachother...
Zyklon_Jay
absolutely. i'm old too. he asked if i could play corporate event geared to people between 30 and 50. that was the demo i came up with.

you have to be relevant to the crowd you will play for...as producers your market should be the kids, going to clubs will help you, trust me.
