How often do you go out to clubs to hear music? (pg. 2)

Been clubbing since I was about 14 (master of fake ID's and in London in the 90's there was a great underground scene). I had virtually stopped altogether until I came out to LA and the fire got rekindled as LA has a lot of good clubs and loads going.

Still, I only go out clubbing every couple/few months. It was out a lot more last year but one of the big clubs which I love got in a tiff with giant so no more good edm nights there.

Still next weekend is looking pretty ing epic...a lot of talent in town.....

in a club right now. Boring beyond epic proportions half of them is over 40 and I spotted 5 with no bra... Oh and the majority is over 40. So screwed.

Haha, is this typical in your area?

no. Note to self: never go out with my gf again. This is ing and pissing me off. 8 without bra thus far. 2 ace of base tracks. Killer night apparently. i wish my gf had the mental capacity to be educated when it comes to music.

Oh , Euroguidos!

Seems like it's global phenomenon now.

I use to go just about every weekend when I was underage but a lot of the clubs in NJ are in North NJ and are rather ghetto. Lots of minorities/kids/fights breaking out. I use to just drop my E/speed and dance my ass off, try too hook up with as many girls as I could.

I want to say I stopped clubbin when I had to serve time. Got out and never really went back again. I stuck more to the bar scene at that point and we have some local club/bars that are small, but classy and sometimes play decent music (like Club Avenue in Long Branch where I also use to work). They also have a pool on the roof right by a fireplace that lights up under water while they leave the lights off and people dance around the pool. Its pretty neat. Lots of pretentious rich s but good place to find clean girls.

Never. F&*(ing dubstep drives me nuts.

See I think most people here saying that the scene where they live is no good are kidding themselves. People say the same thing in sydney all the time about how every night is a commercial cheese-fest, but at the end of the day there are still in awesome clubs. And if there isn't one, then ffs, get 20 friends together and start a night in your local bar, 15 people is a good number for most small club nights, if you can pull a few randoms in off the street.

Educate her then... I got my girlfriend away from hardcore and into techno/deep house/disco/prog/IDM

There's a tonne of great places in Sydney as well as international DJs all year round. I just don't get out to many of them.
You at Laundry mostly?

Sorry to be the one to ask the obvious, but if you never go out and you're trying to write dancefloor-oriented music, how do you have any idea if what you're writing would work on the dancefloor? Are you surprised if DJs aren't playing your tunes?

This isn't aimed at anyone in particular - but a lot of you have said you never go out. While I appreciate a lot of you just write music for yourselves, or write music not aimed at the dancefloor, I doubt all of you fall into those categories...

I go out pretty regularly and still find that I hear new sounds or grooves which work better than others - my view of what works gets shaken up pretty regularly, maybe as often as every few months. All of this influences what I play when I'm DJing and what I write.
