Let's be honest here. Apple ONLY provides their own case, OS, and logic board. Also mouse and keyboard. Everything else IS NOT Apple's. Everything is made in China like the other PC stuff. Quality? Sure. They have a nice slim case/monitor thing. That is all.

For the same price, I'd much rather have an awesome gaming-grade PC desktop than an iMac. Now, I do have a Macbook Pro, simply because I prefer Apple's laptops over all else; but when it comes to desktops, PC all the way.

Can we finish this PC vs Mac ass-wiping contest please?

Lol, there's telling discrepancy: The macbook pros and macpros offer the worst value out of the entire apple line, but you think that's a good investment?

You're comparing apple(s) to organges; sure I can build an ugly, loud, gaming tower with a sub standard screen and peripherals, but don;t try to tell me it like an imac.

If you're talking about the recent asus LED's, then you know they are actually cheap LED screens unlike apple so you'd have to but at least a RGBLED screen to compare, and you'll be hard pushed to find anything under $500 that truly compares even at 22".

And btw, Apple don't actually make ANYTHING themselves. It's all made by contracted factories, most of which make parts for every other manufacturer. The reason apple products are quality is that they have incredible strict design, QA and production standards for their specified systems.

So let get back to a real world comparison: Win 7 Ult 64 OEM $149 (cheapest you get readily and legally get it for). Now a true LED 22" screen $499 (cheapest I could find in the same class). Now an i5 to the same spec as apple's imac base model $179. Already at $800 and haven't even got all the pther parts so I'll gve you even super conservative prices (below newegg's offerings for high quality components): motherboard ($100), a case & PSU ($150), an BR optical drive ($50), silent fans ($50), ($50) hard drive, ($50)keyboard, ($50) mouse, ($30) webcam, ($30)wifi card......dang, already over $1350 and you still got to build the thing yourself, not to mention it will look like this:

Again, I'm not some apple fan boy - I love my PC's (all three of them) and I hate some of apples expensive products but don't profess to be an expert on something you don't know about or even own.

L4C makes a damn good point - I suppose I'll concede we're really talking about computers for audio in at least a semi pro setting but it's not all a massive marketing conspiracy that macs are (at leats for the time being) the industry standard in pro audio/creative media/broadcast creation/etc environments. Sure, for your bedroom setup a big old tower with large fans and a plastic looking monitor are fine, but it doesn't fly in a pro setting, where has to work with little to no maintenance or you lose $$$'s by the second.

I don't have a pro studio at home, but my time is so limited that I just don't have time to about all the I get bogged down with my PC's.

I am dating an egocentric only child that was not only spoiled to death but went to private school, is a professional opera singer and was a model during university. Her favourite word is ME.

I am not the boss in this relationship.

oh come on. As if anyone that owns a mac is using the factory drives or mac. And they use western digital in the mac pros so i don't know.

And according to http://www.storagereview.com/best_drives

hitachi has the highest review so ....

I personally think the failure rates are all pretty close to each other .

How on earth did you come up with this $500.00 for 22" - sweet jesss, now I know why we have this issue over quality and prices.

I just bough 2 months ago a 40" Hitachi LED TV 1080P 120Hz for $659.00 which is one of the best in the market !!!!

This is just freaking crazy and on border line with obsessiveness.

when i think about it tho , i've had 2 hitachi drives fail in less than a year. But I have about 12 of those desktar e TB ones that haven't . But i don't know, I have a backup system that just makes failed drives no issue. I have an exact copy in the computer in less than 5 minutes. Send the drive off, get it back working and it takes about 5 business days.

But i know mac uses both. IN the Gdrives, which isn't really mac, hitachi, the mac pros, it is a western digital drive. In their airport storage things , it is a green WD.

that TV has a lower resolution than the Imac. And come on man. a TV ? how ghetto is that ? And those TVs, well drop it once. Broken. Trust me. Drop an imac a few times and it will still work. Crack an imac and it will still work. Crack a macbook and it will still work. Crack a TV and it won't.

Look at the resolution on the low end iMacs. 1920 x 1080. I knew I was dealing with a blind man.
