Which 24" one? There's a number of Dell models.
Also, the 27" and 30" use the same LG panels. Apple has a glossy finish while Dell has a matte finish. The Dell also has more input options, is adjustable and costs about a gazillion dollars less because sales are on all the time. Let's not forget the dead pixel next day replacement too.
Come to think of it, I believe LG produces the same panels for the 24" inch top Dell as well as the iMac too. However the iMac is much better calibrated and the glossy screen makes it appear nicer at a glance, but the Dell needs to be calibrated.
Also before anyone goes and points it out, the best monitor in the world if you're doing graphic work is neither a Dell nor an Apple, so let's not circlejerk about it too much. Plus, who gives a ? The differences in a good IPS screen are negligible for the majority of us (all of us?) who don't need accurate colour reproduction. Does anyone here actually do any graphical work?
Actually, another thing....stop talking about LED monitors. They aren't. They are LED-backlit LCDs. Those are not LED monitors. |

Why did I read this thread? LOL!
I like how people are like "I saved 200 bucks over an iMac by building my own, Mac's are a rip-off!". Sorry, I'll pay $200 to have Apple build my machine, test it, and guarantee it as a unit. Not to mention put it in a rugged aluminum case that's really small, quiet, and durable.
As stable as windows 7 is, I still can't stand it compare to OS X. And I'm not a noob... I hold a degree in computer science and program professionally. OS X is so much cleaner in so many ways, but I'm also a Unix nerd at heart.
I'm surprised at so much hate on the laptops. I'm using an i7 MBP with SSD, 8GB of RAM, and I don't really touch the CPU with Maschine, Logic Pro 9, Ableton, Komplete. 50+ fx in one track? What the hell are you people producing? Sometimes less is more! |

But you don't trust yourself to build your own computer? |

I built my own computer nine years ago or something. Switched out the mobo+cpu+ram in 2006 since i managed to put the CPU in the wrong way (not upside down you moron). It works like a charm and the only thing I've had to replace since that was the PSU. Still haven't maxed out the cpu either and I do some pretty creative fx routing and stuff.
Moral of story: PC's suck and will only break on you. |

Of course. I just don't have the time. Full time career, plus DJ'ing, production, and life gets in the way.
I built all my own PC's from around 1994 to 2003, then I got sick of it.
People get old. You'll see. |

Yes, for one million dollars. Considering how many classic hits have been made with that computer, it's a steal. :) |

No idea what it was, but the monitor alone was £700 and the iMac next to it was about £1100 at the time (2-3 years ago). |
