Growing up, the father of my best mate owned a BMW dealership. It was attached to their house and had a full BMW certified garage there. His clients were 90% tacky, nouveau and tasteless and they lapped up BMW as much as they could. By the time I was 18, I had driven every BMW made even the hideous 8 series. I was one of the first people in the UK to drive the Z4 as he was loaned one of the three inspection vehicles brought to the UK. I remember thinking this has to be the tackiest thing I have or ever will sit in.

I was right.

I think I do know what I'm talking about.

No, you're not, even if you drove every single type.

Anyone else severely reminded of Domesticated when DJ RANN gets in a tiff? Not a bad thing, just a thing.

It's funny that DJRANN gets so worked up over a purposely and obviously sarcastic post. I could afford a BMW. I could afford a Mercedes. I don't drive one because I don't need them. I don't need an emblem on my car to "define" who I am. The people who think what you drive has all to do with anything are twats like DJRANN whom I've never wanted anything to do with. Truth is, I bought that car fresh out of college, it was my first car, and it handles very well in snow (which is about 6 months of the year here). I also work from home 99% of the time, so I drive maybe 20 miles per week. I've driven both Mercs and BMWs, the latter being a much greater pleasure. So it isn't "riche" that I comment on something I actually do have experience with, besides the fact that I see both every day. I also find it intriguing that he seems to have a backstory to give him experience or expertise on seemingly any topic you can think of. Meetings with an orthopedic surgeon make him an expert on the anatomy of a knee and its relations to running on hard surfaces, living by a BMW shop makes him an authority on how poorly made and tacky (that was a good one btw) they are. Numerous connections in the movie and music industries. Either he's the guy from the Dos Equis commercials, or he's as fake as L4C.

Oh DJRANN, you are something.

Seriously though, personal tastes aside, I find it pretty sad that somehow you find my life too awesome to believe because I've done a few simple things like meeting some people at the top of their field (like that doctor, among other dare I say) or worked with some famous people through the course of my work in the entertainment industry (which certain people on this forum know is real and I have verified - a while back someone accidentally outed the person i was working for and I had to get a mod to remove it).

I can't help but feel your life must be incredibly mundane if you think what (especially considering what little morsels) I've shared with you, somehow make me the Dos Equis guy lol.

The thing that always amazes me thing, is that no matter what the subject, you can never, ever back up your . It's always: spout some meaningless opinion (usually incorrect) then follow up with "you're wrong", and that's it - the sum total of your argument, whereas the few things I comment on in this forum, i've either done, worked in, or know someone whose opinion you can't ignore.

I never on someones right to opinion but it truly amazes me how much bollocks comes out of your mouth.

P.s. I love the fact you post something and just have to come back 20 mins later to edit it :p

Dos Equis guy lol.

I've been eye'ing the BMW X1 as I like their take on luxury compact SUVs. I take many roadtrips, and I'm looking for a bargain aswell. I'm also keeping an open mind.

I respect your opinion, but I don't understand why you've chosen to disclose so much personal information on this forum (who you work for, etc) when it's not necessary. No one on this forum knows me personally, and I enjoy keeping it that way.

I came, I saw...I trolled. I wouldn't feel comfortable knowing some yahoo on this forum knows more than I have divulged; and, even if they came across some piece of personal information, they'd've a hard time using it against me in real life; my 'interaction' with most TAs, starts and ends here.

The X1 is more of a tall wagon than a proper SUV; more Volvo XC70 than XC90.

I'm not going to respond much further on this matter, because it's pointless. Clearly we have different ideas about visual aesthetics and different experiences about who buys different cars. In my view, Mereceds are hideous cars, and, in my experience, douchebag lawyers and real-estate agents who go to Cabo and like cruises are their prime clientele.

There probably isn't a way to quantify our arguments empirically, and you don't seem to care about that if your idea of proof is one of the worst Google searches ever suggested to me, so this isn't going to go anywhere productive. For the record, if you Google "Merecedes ugly", you'll get a hell of a lot more results than the BMW one ;)

However, that said, I'll go back, again, and say that just because someone doesn't have the need or the means for an object doesn't mean that their opinion on it is worthless. Yeah, I wouldn't put Stephen's opinion about cars on the same level as my friends', but that doesn't mean that whatever his opinion is is automatically wrong. That's just douchey and nonsensical.

And this is all coming from someone who isn't even friends with Stephen, so take my comment however you will.

A good way to hate anyone who drives a luxury car is go drive around Queen Anne in Seattle during the mid afternoon. Housewives driving luxury cars everywhere and not a turn signal in sight!

I'm not sure if I hate Queen Anne or Ballard drivers more. Probably suburbia ones.
