How often do you guys get your alignment checked? With every service or more often? I only ask because I just had my car serviced in March, and when I was having my summer tires put on the guy asked if I wanted my alignment checked (cause he noticed a scuff on my front rim lol).
I personally have not noticed any issues, and like I say I just had it serviced in March - so I'm sure this was trying to make me pay for I don't need/playing to my apparent feminine stupidity. |

| Every year if you're a man. Every month if you're a woman. |

get it checked every time you do a tire rotation, depending on the make, some vehicles are cambered to give it "sporty handling" which will cause inside wear on the tires, if the alignment isnt checked and the camber goes out of spec, this can cause the tires to wear past the safe point very quickly. my CX-7 had the alignment slip last fall and it ruined two of my summer tires and two of my winters.... each tire costs around 400 bucks so its well worth the 15$ check every 8k km's.
the alignment will naturally drift over time but that can be sped up by driving alot on uneven roads, hitting potholes or bouncing off curbs.
if you have rims bigger than 16" or require performance rated tires, its worth the money to protect your tire life as those things are freakin expensive! |

| Yeah...I figured as much. I'm not against having it checked at all when I do regular maintainance + service - I just found it shady that the guy would offer me a service when I JUST had my car serviced and all that checked. |

They're there to make as much money off you as possible, just like any other business. Most people are completely clueless when it comes to automotive repairs. |

Obviously, hence why I was like "Really dude?" I don't pretend to know a lot about cars, but I'm not totally stupid either. When I said "Well I just had it serviced in March and I haven't noticed any issues." the guy actually responded with "Oh well it might drive straight but that doesn't mean it isn't off - I get my alignment done at least 4 times a year." Like really, off buddy and just put my ing summer tires on ffs. :stongue:
Furthermore, my bf's family business is tires/tire distribution. If there was a problem with wear, etc. He'd know. I don't need some shop chump to tell me what my bf already can about my rubber. |

Aren't you the one that put the coolant in the oil reservoir?
:p |

| It's amazing having a mechanic you can trust. I was talking to an independent mechanic who works on-call with local Lexus dealers as a specialist for any sort of locking or ignition cylinder problems. A job he quoted for $250 on some guy's IS350, including parts and labour, ended up being charged $850 by the guys at the dealer. |

No...I put windshield fluid in the coolant tank. An easy thing to do in the dark when the two caps are right beside each other and the same color.
I definitely know what the ing oil tank is, jesus.
Anyway, they didn't charge me anything to fix that up. I guess the whole "dumb girl" thing can work in my favour as well as against it. :p |
