Kicks with short tail sound better on big system, a big low end tail kills the rest of the sounds, all you need is some extra attack and strong mid to make it pump. But only a good kick won't make the people move and i think get lucky is a way too chilled track only suitable for disco lovers. |
it blows my mind that you are a dj.
Despite my criticisms of the track, get lucky will work on any dance floor that isn't catering to hard core EDM fans. You totally missed the concept of transients on bass material and how that translates to big PAs. I mean it is pretty much a slam dunk in terms of club friendliness in that it is bland enough to work for older white people, and has enough edge with the second half to work for younger crowds.
I thought it could of been better but I can't deny that it is a catchy tune in that you could check off all the boxes one would to guarantee a single and that there is not a sane person who has had a drink that won't like it. If there is a track that is played in a club more than any other this summer, get lucky is it. That isn't a hard prediction to make. |

| Still haven't listened but a friend put on Instant Crush over the weekend, and if that's any indication... |

This is the version i'd be playing if ever, i've a pool party on the 8th of june this is what i'd play at daytime and in that context the track works, this is mainly the original but more driving. The original is too soft a lot of djs will play it but it's not for me. You don't have to make a track fit in your set and in your taste just because is the hype of the moment. I'd be playing justin bieber with 4/4 beats then. |

| Listening now, finally on spotify. First two tracks are totally forgettable, Giorgio by Moroder was ok. |

Finally heard this. It's obviously a lot better than most the pop-EDM, but that's not exactly a high bar to surpass. I don't hate it, but it just doesn't really do much for me, either. I'm sure I'd enjoy hearing a few of the songs in the club, and I'm sure I'll hear plenty of them soon enough, but I won't be buying this or listening to it on purpose again. Kinda a boring album. Props to them for trying something new, though, I guess.
Sykonee, that review is everything I expected :p |

"C'mon, Richdork, let's see it, that 'over-arching music culture narrative' you're always so desperate to create. C'mon... c'mon... aahh, there it is!" |

I let it sink in, don't hate it. I enjoyed parts of it, and was very bored through others. Doin' It Right is probably my favorite bit off here, and mostly because I'm a big sucker for Panda Bear's vocals.
This track was on the Japan release and I honestly think it ends the album a bit better than Contact.

Album of the decade?! Good grief. Opolopo's Voltage Controlled Feelings would have been a much better candidate for such a title. I agree with one of the commenters. That reviewer must have gotten a new car from Columbia Records for that piece. |
