Do you think soldiers are heroes or just byproducts of the system? (pg. 15)

We have your thoughts, opinions and reasoning, the utter drivel you type out on this forum every day. Why is it that stupid people on Internet forums seem to blame their idiocy on "written English", |
Perhaps because you specifically made a comparison?

Those errors in arguments you keep failing to point out.

At the time of that post I hadn't displayed a point scoring attitude with jay for a long time. It's also pretty obvious that replying to someone's political post hardly discredits them. My comment about things getting offtopic was hardly a "standard teenager internet defence". It's not a defence at all, if I meant it as a defence I would've said "please get back on topic" as a command or an accusation and not as a comment.

You may think that of my posts; but at least they're not the epitome of narcissism. At one stage I posted that the people who are into electronic music tend to be interesting and your only thought on that subject seemed to be that apparently I'm not. It's as if you assume that I give a what you think of me personally. This was in music discussion as well not the cor. |

Thanks. That gives me a much clearer picture. You do have an ax to grind. I have no idea if you have a legitimate problem there since I don't know the details. Certainly some people have been screwed over. Some have not. If you do not want to share what went wrong that is your business.
But for a lot of us it did work out better. I kept my end of my contract and for better or worse the army kept there end up. I did not get everything I wanted but I did get everything that was promised. (Note that my last contact with the department of the army was them informing me that I was dismissed from the IRR because I had not submitted a full length photo of me so they could promote me to 1LT. No, I am not kidding.)
BTW, what did you do in the army? I would ask for your MOS but those have changed over the years and I don't know what the current ones are. |
Full length photo? Haha, no . That's the Army for you, though.
I mean, when I went to Korea and saw "butter bars" getting privileges that Staff Sgts. and Sgt. First Class weren't getting I knew something wasn't right. Men that put 10-15 years in getting compared to fresh-out-of college boys. It tended to work itself out outside of the 9 to 5 day, but that dynamic itself signified how ed up the was, imo.
I was a 63B. Light/heavy wheel mechanic. I spent my first year in Korea with a medical unit and the other part of my service in Oklahoma part of a field artillery unit. Going to Iraq with them would have been fun - not. |

Having been both enlisted and an officer I can tell you that it looks a lot different on the other side. Those privileges come with a set of responsibilities that are not much fun. And being a 2LT, in terms of respect from those of higher rank, is not much different than being a private E-1.
Also a lot of NCO's would never want to trade places with junior officers at all. The "privileges" would not be worth it to them.
As a brand new platoon leader I found out very quickly that my new best friend was the battalion CSM. Working with the NCO chain of command was a very effective way to get things done. To use it meant that respect was a two way street. This is not obvious to a lot of junior enlisted because all don't get to see all that goes on besides the required traditions of calling relative youngsters "sir" and saluting. |

Yea, true that.
My E-7 didn't give two s, to be honest.
He used to always boast about how it takes an act of congress to take away rank once you become an SFC.
He ran wild in Korea without giving any s, lol.
EDIT: We also had this crazy Russian E-7 that came into our unit toward the end of my time there. Dude had so much experience under his belt it was ridiculous how he even got assigned to our unit. Guess it was his time to take a break. He shared this one story of when him and his boys got shot down in a chopper in Kosovo. Long story short, our first sgt. (who was a female at that time) had no authority over him whatsoever. He basically took charge, lol. Super cool ass guy, though. Always made me reflect on how cool it would've been to go infantry where the politics are minimal; although, my diilema of going to Iraq or Afghanistan would've eventually became an issue and all the other that I started to think about the military in general. |

Haha oh wow. That is your axe to grind? The well-established fundamental principles of military discipline and chain of command? |

My ax to grind? Have you not read anything in this thread?
Until you present anything legit to respond to like other people have, I have nothing else to say to you. |

No I didn't. I said you didn't have the cognitive ability to analyse and deconstruct an argument in the way I did. It's not merely that you can't write it down: you couldn't say it out loud, you couldn't even think it. I've completely eviscerated your entire argument and the only "error in argument" you've found of mine is your loud insistence you weren't out to discredit Jay, which is which reaaaal convincing when set against these statements:
| quote: | | He sure makes some half assed political posts though. Like the time he couldn't be bothered googling what neo liberalism is. |
| quote: | | Jay didn't really give much detail though so I probably should've dismissed it as an irrelevant throw away political comment that he's not going to back up or elaborate further on like the rest of his political comments. |
And even if we assume you're right, where does that leave you? You came out with an abysmally poor piece of nonsense logic that makes you look like a five year old, and you don't even have the excuse you were over-reaching to discredit someone you hate. Fantastic outcome for you there.
| quote: | | You may think that of my posts; but at least they're not the epitome of narcissism. |
So what? That's completely irrelevant. You're claiming we've got nothing to judge your intellect against, I highlight that we have plenty and your response is "At least I'm not narcissistic"? Give yourself a medal and call yourself a hero, you're still thicker than week-old pig. |

Yes. I think soldiers are a product of the system, for the system and for those that reap the benefits of the system.
I'm glad to see that slowly turning though. I believe that soon most soldiers will understand that you can't defend your country, if you are on the other side of the world. |

Well English is the only area where you have a significant advantage.

Again, given your lack of ability to get basis facts right you're not in a position to be able to tell. Have fun being a know it all douchebag who thinks they're a lot smarter than they are ;) |

| Given that by "English" you seem to be including comprehension, logic and communication, yes that's the only significant advantage I have over you. But I'm sure you're great at Pictionary. |
|
|
| Psyshell |
| Nope I just meant things like grammar and the ability to pad out talking points. I also really wouldn't insult my Pictionary skills if I were you. |
