What are the odds of survival after one is on a ventilator? Not good, from what I recall. Although last I heard he was not on one yet, only 'near' one.

I read 50-80% of the people who survive the ventilator will suffer from Post-Intensive Care Syndroom (Pics). So that's an additional problem.
Let's hope he doesn't need one.

When the governor quarantined the whole district (we're like DC here), we were caught off-guard: Brasilia was third in number of cases after São Paulo and Rio, but the numbers were still very low. It seemed way too early, but we heeded the calls.

One month later, we see the results: the number of cases and deaths in other units of the federation soared, and we dropped from third to fifth in number of cases overall, probably sixth tomorrow. It's quite stable around here, in spite of Bolsonaro fans who flout the lockdown as some kind of badge of honour. Still, even if we compensate for subnotifications, our curve seems to be less steep than in the United States, so we're optimistic.

I'm trying to keep my cool but, Christ, they make my blood boil because we have to bump on these people when we go grocery shopping

I worked in ICU last night with a covid patient, and it really hit me - there is NO treatment for this.

I remember what worried me the most about dengue last year was that all we could do was wait and keep me hydrated. The medicine helped fight the symptoms, not the disease itself :(

I had never read about it, I hope he pulls through and makes a speedy recovery.

Yes just read this too.

Anyone else panicking a little every time they cough?

I'm quite certain it's just an allergy (being locked in with an air conditioner in a 30m² studio flat would make me clear my throat frantically even before this pandemic), but when I occasionally cough, I'm like... what if? How!? Will I go the way of the BoJo?

My wife coughs for over half a year now, so as long as I don't it's all good :)

Christ, the virus has now entered a Yanomami tribe. The Amazonas state is one of the most affected, and they clearly don't have the means to stop the pandemic from wiping out the indigenous peoples even further :(

Haha, allergies or something?

And, yeah, keep healthy you!

I'm just afraid of the day this hits the Syrian refugee camps in Lebanon, Jordan, etc.

Yes, lol.

And I still can't stop touching my damn face.

Paradox Lost
I just don’t like having to assure everyone within earshot of a lone cough that I just had an almond stuck in my throat, as they swivel their heads in panic.

Went grocery shopping on Monday so I'll be watching myself for symptoms over the next few days.

I see some of our neighbors are still letting all their young kids mix and play together. Kind of defeats the point of the whole quarantine thing.
