| SONAR is good... we have it at my school and I use it for producing ads, commercials, and other stuff... never tried making tracks in it though. |

u should "want" to make a certain type of music but just let any cretivity jsut flow, whatever it turns out to be, thats what its gonan be....think outside the box :) |
I think it's great that he has an idea of what he wants his sound to be. Pre-setting boundaries, I think, doesn't box in the creative process; it gives it more focus, I think... Here's an analogy- say you go outside to throw a frisbee... do you chase after it on any tangent, crossing over into the street or your neighbors' yards, or do you hone your skills, so that you anticipate the movement after each throw... It can become an artform in itself, as you compensate to avoid overreaching- like a ballet confined within a space. |

| I'm half-considering posting up one or two that are half-decent, but where does everybody host them? I don't think the caps on my web space will support MP3 downloads. |

www.mp3unsigned.com is my favourite spot to host them... they're a really nice group of people, they have a nice forums, and they don't spam. There are other sites like soundclick, etc. |

i can host it for u...u got my contact...
oh and Cildainie;
what im saying is....ive seen this several times before and producers tend to say for instance "well im gonna make a prog trance trance track" and then follow all the norms of making such a track...but when u jsut let it flow, whatever beat and melody u come out with will be more of a pleasing outcome than trying to follow the prerquisites for making a track. but as i said before...thats just my opinion.
there are producers ive known (still do know them of course..lol) and they used to box themselves based on whatgenre they decided innitially to create and then once they broke free from the box, their productions were absolutely amazing |

Does anyone ever listen to early/mid-90s albums or Essential Mixes? There are tracks in some of them that were so obviously made in Impulse Tracker. :D I wish I'd been born 5 years earlier to get in on the whole rave movement - not the party side, the production side! (Well the party side too)
The thing is, even though the IT tracks sound cheesy as hell because of the sample quality, they're WAY more elaborate and well-written than so many modern tracks. These people had f*ckin' talent coming out of their asses, and the sound just seems to fit so well with the image of dark basement or abandoned warehouse with cheesy lights and everybody ed up.
Anyway, that doesn't really have any relevance to the main discussion here, just had a moment of nostalgia there. :D |

I have a new track up... very very unperfected, but I will get it all mastered and EQed sometime soon.
This was made entirely in ModPlug Tracker... all I did after converting to wav was a bit of hard limiting, but essentially, this is a 100% tracked piece of music. I've gotta change the ending a bit too, but the structure, melodies, counter-melodies, and percussion is all there. I might add some strings.

Plz lemme know what to change! |

Hope you guys don't mind, but my tracks aren't trance (or close to it).
I've been a little uninspired lately but here's a few tracks I've done
Here is a link to my tracks
http://ca.geocities.com/[email protected]/symphony.html
1) Symphony - Let me just start by saying that I have no idea if this was a real song to begin with, the melody and everything just popped into my head one day so I noted it...still unsure what I want to do with it
2) Tundra - This is an ambient track I did while doing somoe music for a fantasy roleplaying game. It's meant to be background music more/less
3) Untitled(Lullaby) - This is an ambient rock track that might make a good intro to an album or something.
4) Devastation - My friend and I did this when I got my new soundcard (E-MU 0404) and we wanted to test out the recording quality...It's an unfinished rock song, lyrics were written about 5 mins before recording it
Matt - Vocals/Guitar, Me - Bass, recording/production
note: ignore the frequencies at the end ;p
5) Solarflare - I did this for a school art project last year...ambient dance |
