lol...I don't even know why I posted that.
But I agree w/ you...when the music is good, I dance more sober b/c I'm not distracted by lighting, fuzzy clothing or random conversations. ;) |

Just a few quick notes, there are no bunch of types of dopamines there is only one type of dopamine. And as far as I know, alcohol has a major effect on slowing down all neurons (making them fire less).
The thing with the brain is that its very complicated. There are inhibitory neurons in some areas and excititory neurons in other areas. Alcohol slows down all neurons therefore its a mishmash of effects.
I did just read that alcohol is known to release dopamine in the reward area of the brain but how much of an effect does that have on the toxicology its totally a different cup of tea.
I just wanted to point out about the temperature thing you wrote. The thing with being drunk is that you feel warm but you are actually being cooled at a faster rate because your arteries, capillaries and veins are dilated. that's why drunk people feel hot because the blood is closer to the skin but in reality they lose heat a lot faster. Therefore technically being drunk would let you cool off much faster. And again, they don't know the mechanism of how MDMA raises body temperature and if it does at all. I was just reading a review paper on this and results are varied. Some show an increase ans some even show a decrease. Who knows? In humans studies showed no increase in temperature in a regular setting. Of course everyones temperature is increased at a rammed night at the Guv.
I know that media drives the message home that body temperature is increased but actual studies show other wise with a regular dose of E. Where you run into problems is during MDMA toxic levels. but who really knows what comes first, the increase body heat or other effects of the overdose. |
i'm just curious .. i know that MDMA has been around for a while and was used medically at one point. however have there ever been any studies of moderate but prolonged use over say 40-50 years..? i mean i doubt there were raves back then in the 1940's and 50's, but i'm just wondering..

Simple rules apply to everything (E or anything else):
1. Know what you are getting. Make sure you know that the pill was tested and other peoples experiences with the pill. if who ever is selling it does not give you that information then don't buy it. you wouldn't trust a pharmacist if they didn't give you that information.
2. Take in moderation. I know that a lot of people do entire pills. the safest way is to take less then one and see how your body reacts. quarters and halfs are easy to manage. if you are already feeling ill, don't do it, why risk weird reaction with your body already under stess.
3. Drink water and take breaks. If you notice you are covered in sweat then go sit down and drink. Simple. |
you forgot ..
4. Don't take it at all ! ;)

I got thinking more about this last night. Of course it's tragic for everyone involved, but the friends are going to have to deal with this incident for the rest of their lives...god, that's an awful lot for such young people to deal with. |
Thinking about that and watching requiem for a dream.....
I'm starting to feel nauseous.... |

i apologize for my "poser" comments but i've always thought most ppl have the common sense of understanding what they are doing or else not take a risk and end up not doing it at all. At least from a mature prespective anyway... which i'm far from reaching :p
Problem is everyone has common sense but not everyone has common knowledge. I hope many ppl can learn from other's mistakes. I hope the media's portryal of the whole issue brings a positive attribute of realizing that drugs are there and they are used. For many, just say no works. For others, their curiousity is just too much. For much, ppl do exactly the opposite of what u tell em.
lets not talk about this poor girl ne more. Let her soul rest. I pray that all her family and friends' find peace in their hearts.

It's sad that someone died, "RIP raverposer" whats wrong with you?
Looks like she's been drinking before and took an E for the frist time, her friends should've told her mixing alcohol is bad, especially for a first timer, and yes they should've called the ambulance right away, but nothing can change what happened anymore :(
My prayers go to her family
Peace
