Agreed.....well thought out. Atleast this time, unlike in the past, they did not specifically vilify the club by printing the name. It cannot hurt to send it...the least it can do is rattle their cage a bit.

FF

I definitely agree. Well said Aaron - are you going to send it?

People are quick to blame the drugs, but you have to look to the person consuming.
It's like blaming a shooting on the gun, and not the shooter.

Regardless, this is very tragic. But take a second to think of the human life actually lost rather than what this could do to our "scene."

Agrees.
While it's understood that drugs are part of the culture when clubbing, noone is obligated to do them.
I'm sure there was some peer pressure involved but it's still up to the user, and at that point, the values/morals/etc that they grew up with come to the head of a pin in that split second decision and that decision is based on the home unit and the parents.
I'm not saying taking drugs are bad, I'm saying be responsible with the drugs you're going to take.

The fact that the dad wants to sue the club is yet another example of either parents not wanting to take some responsibility or (justifiably) an emotional outlash.
There's more to blame than just the club but unfortunately, the club is what everyone sees when the blinders are on...

Sympathy to the family and friends... :(

Heres a thought. The drug MDMA was once prescribed to patients who were battling depression. Now i know this is far-fetched, but what if they were to make it legal again. Clubs could sell it, and the people attending the clubs would know what they are getting is pure and not life threatening.

Wouldn't that just be a Brave New World?
Ever heard of SOMA?
HahAhAhaHAHhAhaahahahHahahaa!

'Tis a valid solution though. But at what conseqnence?

something else to consider... drinking too much water can kill the person too.

Lets face it, drugs are easy to buy. If someone wants to get high for a party, they will. Beef up "airport-like" security, the drugs will still get in. So regulate it, and you wont have a problem like this occur again, i guarantee.

Well spoken. I read the article and it appears to me that her father is looking for a scapegoat. Not wanting to face that his daughter might not have been of the smartest breed, or that he might have not done a great job raising her, he finds someone else to blame.

I know this sounds harsh, but his arguement at the end is total Garbage.

"I'd like to see these rave bars shut down. It's too late for my daughter, but, I'll tell you, one out of 100,000 die, that doesn't seem like many, but if it's your daughter ..."
in all honesty, if he applied that idea to cars, we'd all be walking places, since there are surely more than 1 in 100k people that die in a car every year.

And we need to realize that the number of vehicle related deaths is already reduced through regulation!

"They" are already drugging us in the forms of Prozac and Zoloft. Same thing.

Her friends should be charged with manslaughter. When they "put her int he shower and wrapped her in blankets" they took responsibility for her life in my opinion. They called 911 AFTER she stopped breathing? How do we know she wasn't begging for an ambulance and it was her friends who were afraid of the consequences? Her temperature must have been insanely high, how did they not think it was serious enough to grant a hospital trip?

HAhAhHahAhAhahHahhAhaa! Oh, I know...

Innundated w/ propaganda/mass media/pop culture, w/ these substances in place to... weaken... autonomy.

It becomes assimilation, or; "Slowly, very slowly, like two unhurried compass needles, the feet turned towards the right; north, north-east, east south-east, south, south-south-west; then paused, and, after a few seconds, turned back as unhurriedly back towards the left. South-south west, south, south-east, east..." Aldous Huxley, Brave New World

HAhAhAHHhaha! I hate newspapers. I hate America.
