all i have to say to this is if you do drugs and not know what you're taking, or what it does to you, you deserve what's coming.
i feel bad for the family and everything, but this is no one's fault but the girl's and their friends'. i don't even want to comment on blaming the club because that argument is so old and ridiculous it's not even worth a response. |

The friends are definately indirectly to blame resnick...
your point is valid....but if youre going out in a group...last i heard theres absolutely no way it should be "every man/woman for his/herself"
drugs or no drugs..... |

i disagree, remember, the other members had alcohol/e as well...if they didnt know how to use drugs properly, how could they have known things about the shower and towel?
and for calling 911, i know this was an extreme case, but ive been really messed up on alcohol before and i wouldnt want anyone to call 911 for me ( i know e is different, it being the first time and all for her) but still, usually ppl are fine by themselves and are just out of it for a while |

omg - reading that story made me sick to my stomach. That poor girl must have felt so scared and probably didn't want to show her fear infront of her friends by saying she needed an ambulance. All in all.. nobody is to be blamed here but the girl who died. She CHOSE to take the drug and CHOSE to say no to an ambulance and the choices she made unfortunately took her life. I think her friends are to blame in a way - they should have left way earlier than 4:30 after seeing her in that state.. but when she shakes her head "no" in response to needing an ambulance.. her friends are going to believe her.
I could feel the fear because I was drugged a few years ago at systems when I left my drink unattended by these guys. I had shared the drink w/ a friend of mine and we both felt very uneasy afterwards. I had to go by the front door and sit on the floor to get air RIGHT infront of bouncers, and they didn't seem to care if I was ok or not. I saw an ambulance on the street and was VERY close to going outside to them and I was not ashamed to do it. However, I didn't because a fellow partier came and sat w/ me and made me feel much better. That was a completely different situation and I don't even know why I brought it up :p
This girl obviously took the drug on purpose, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't the first time she did. So my question is why didn't she admit that she needed help, knowing that what she was feeling wasn't right? I find it ironic how she was going to be a drug councelor.
When I read that article I see how ignornat and un-educated some people are out there on the club scene. Her parents alone were like "My daughter isn't a druggie, they should have stronger regulations so people can't buy this stuff inside".. how the heck do you know she didn't have it on her when she went inside! I'm sure she brought it along - no doubt about it. I don't know.. it's sad though that's for sure. I feel bad. |

I don’t necessarily believe this argument that alcohol and MDMA combined were the cause of her problems.
If anything – stimulants tend to increase one’s apparent tolerance – so one would expect that if any problems arose it would be due to increased tolerance and increased alcohol intake – not necessarily the synergistic effective of MAMA plus alcohol.
(not speaking of cocaine and alcohol, which produces cocaethylene which has been shown to be more damaging to cardiac tissue [and not produce the protective enzymes that amphetamine produces] – thus an increased likelihood of cardiac muscle damage/arrhythmia, etc).
I know many people who consume alcohol in conjunction with MDMA (and it’s similar analogues) and have never had any adverse reaction – and I’ve seen even more people using alcohol as a depressant to fall asleep after an evening of ecstasy use.
The DXM hypothesis also does not stand with me – as I know people who have taken in excess of 500 mg of Dextromethorphan HBr – and have not had any such negative effects (besides those typical with a disassociative).
I suspect:
1. What she took was PMA (or a similar analogue) which has been shown to be VERY lethal even in small doses (due to hypothermia)
OR
2. Certain individuals do not produce the enzyme (CYP2D6, CYP-1A2, CYP-3A4, & CYP-2bB) that allows for the liver to metabolize MDMA (and it’s analogues) properly and thus cause a very dangerous state of MDMA within the blood (seratonin syndrome, hypertension, hyperthermia, etc).
Just my $0.02. But still I want to hear what Margs has to say. |

If you had read the article, her friends stated that when they asked her if she wanted an ambulance she said no but because she couldn't talk, I'm assuming she shook her head no. Of course they could have lied and never asked her at all. We really don't know anything since we weren't there. |

lol...
It was probably dehydration.
Drugs don't kill you directly, if they did they would be labeled poison instead. |
