part 3/3 of this most ridiculous weekend...
Got to Guv @ around 10.30/10.45 with 4 others...kenneth thomas was opening things up...immediately for me there seemed to be a major difference in energy. While I enjoyed saturday night with sasha and zabiela immensely, i didnt really dance as hard as i usually do (those that have seen me know)..rather i did alot more standing around and listening (enjoying it just as much). Sunday tho...from the beginning I was moving..really enjoyed Kenneth Thomas...someone mentioned that he's opened for tiesto before???? Great tunes...I'd like to see what this guy can do playing a headliner spot @ a normal spin saturday. It was also the first time I'd heard anyone OTHER than mark oliver throw down "Nalin and Kane - Open your eyes".
Infected Mushroom were right on time...that first song was insane..what am i saying..for the next 1 and a half hours...every sound coming out of those speakers was insane..i was closer to the back but moved up right to the front only to find myself in the middle of world war 3. Absolute craziness!!!! I really didnt mind too much as anyone who jumped into me got elbowed in the ribs... :) :). I give the Israeli fans credit tho..these guys know how to party. And this is Toronto...imagine what something over there would be like :nervous:
Max was on @ 1.30 and it was shame that he had to follow IM. He played great stuff but following up an act like that is virtually impossible. Still great tunes..what was that one tune he dropped that sounded like something I hear Mauro play pretty much everytime he comes here (cept this last time). It was early in the set incase anyone can remember. By this time, i was hyped up for armin (NO PATIO FOR ME !! :disbelief )
and the master himself came on @ 3.30am...HARD from the get go..AMAZING crowd reaction, intense atmosphere...relentless tunes....
I gotta describe this one moment that for me personally was the highlight of the night. When he was dropping communication, just as the song climaxed and people started jumpin up and down..at one point during my jump, i turned around to look behind me (i was 3 rows from the dj booth) and the ENTIRE MAIN ROOM had their hands in the air and was jumping up and down...it was an intense rush for sure..and even armin mustve felt it cuz he turned around to talk to his manager (I think) and then turned back to the crowd and mouthed the word "WOW"...i think that itself speaks volumes for what kinda night it was.
and then there was Mark...:) :)...when we first entered..we were shocked that there was NO mark oliver on the set timings outside...how the hell can there be a guv anniversary without a mark oliver set. As much as i woulda loved to see Armin for the rest of the night...i really wasnt too disappointed when MO stepped up to the plate and threw down CLASSIC TUNE after CLASSIC TUNE....ash the song right after you left was "out of the blue" and it didnt slow down from there :) :)...Frankie goes to hollywood was an amazing moment too...thank you mark for an hour or so of brilliant memories.
I can't belive i missed the happy birthday at the end cuz i was getting the coats...goddamn me and my goddamn impatience. MEH!!!!
anyways Pokenfold fliers going about :)
can't remember the date and too lazy to check.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GUV!!!!!
heres to 8 more years :)

man all i gotta say is "WOW" frig, what an amazing night!
i'm from Ottawa, and was invited to check out the event at the last moment. i'm so glad i went.
I missed KThomas, but Infected Mushroom, and MaxGraham, and ArminVBuuren...were outta this world.
When armin came on, the crowd went willlld! Frig, i know i did along with my other 4 buddies and the rest of the 100 crew!!! We were on the top floor over looking Armin (near the lounge area-in the hallway near the entrance to the lighting booth). One of my friends got his autograph as well on one of the Guv. posters.
Man and the ladies? holly faaak, they were amazing!!! Man the TO ladies are so much more open then the Ottawa snobs!!
All in all, I'd go back again!!! Suupa night!

Hard to believe but I actually had fun in The Guv.I got there in time to hear Thomas spinning. He put on a good show & then Infected Mushroom came on & went to the Orange room since I am not a fan of theirs.Got back into the main room to hear Max Graham. He always puts on a great show and then DJ GOD himself...AVB...I parked my ass right behind the DJ stage and had an amazing time partying with other TAs on that upper stage and lookin at AVB at work...I felt bad for him & Max tryin to get the sound system working properly but AVB kept on dropping some kickass tunes...I didn't stay too long & left around 5ish...The overcrowding was bad but I've been to worse sardine canned events at the Guv.I think that if it wasn't for the fact that there was Danny T. @ The Docks then The Guv would have been SUPER rammed for sure.
Kool things I saw that nite was that Elvis robot guy all decked out in silver.I saw him at the Eaton Center before so I recognized those moves of his right away...I also enjoyed that guy doin his YOYO tricks.I saw him doing his tricks at Queens Quay and he's the best YOYO performer I've ever seen...
Things that kinda pissed me off but only briefly was that "Isrealy geena" chick in the white dancing in front of the barrier where I was standing...I had to tell her to -off but the Guv security guy got her off for me (thank you for that ;) )
Anyway it was a 8 out of 10 nite for me and thank AVB with a higher then normal visits to Toronto latelly:D |

Max Graham is playing and some guy has this big flag held up in front of the stage so that nobody can see.
I walk up to the dood and say "hey, you know Max is Canadian right?", to which the doodman responds "yes, i know" to which I retort "why then are you waving a flag that has nothing to do with him, seems strange" to which I got no discernable reply (I did get some mubles and studders and such however). |

Got into Guv just as Kenneth Thomas was ending- wish I'd caught more of him, as I'm sure he was awesome.
Infected Mushroom were AMAZING! My favorite performance from them yet.
Max- slowed it down a lot when he got on, but things surely picked up. His ending tracks were    !!!! Funniest thing was watching Max wipe imaginary tears from his eyes when everyone was chanting "Armin! Armin!", lol!
Then Armin. Not gonna comment much, good set, but had to leave at 5:15 to head to the Docks for Danny.
Best surprise of the night: Spotting my friend Pete Moutso (resident DJ from Washingon,DC's Glow Nightclub) in the booth with Armin. Scolded him for not calling me to let me know he was coming. Tried to get them to come to the Docks afterwards, but never saw them. Oh well.
For those wondering about the violinist, his name is Eugene and goes by 'Dr. Draw'. Diabolic- ever heard of wireless transmission? He had a transmitter clipped onto the waistline of his pants. |

oh, also, its such a bad place to talk politics and war and whatnot... people are having fun together, whats the point of ruining that moment?
getting some fingers pointed at me ain't cool either.
Tatgirl knows what am talking about. |

well the only reason i went to the guv that night was to see infected mushroom, and i have to say that im glad i went. even though i thought them playing at 12 was a bit early their show was absolutly amazing. however 2 things that pissed me off, first off they ended their set something like 15-20 early and let that guy with the violin play for 15 mins.... yeah it was really cool for the first 5 mins cause when the hell are you going to see a crazy trance dancin violin player go crazy in a club, but then it got really boring and i was craving more infected. another thing is they didnt play FROG MACHINE! if they played that track it wouldve made my night... hearing bust a move was great and horus the chorus... over all amazing set as always these guys never disappoint, the only problem was that it was too short. haha ohhhhhh man it was a good night and the shakakaw remix was siiiiiiiiiiiiiiick!

Awesome time!!!
Got in around 11:30 and caught a bit of Kenneth Thomas and he was spinning some great tunes. They should definitely bring him again!
IM came on and they were pretty good (not but not nearly as good as the last time they were here in KH and when they absolutely floored me) :stongue:. Very talented those two are. Luved the live vocals near the end of their set.
The violinist act right after their set was awesome!!
On came Max...and... :disbelief I wasn't feeling much of his set at all. On the bright side, it gave me an opportunity to rest up for the man I like to call 'Relentless'. :D
As for Armin - :eyespop:  :eyes:. Awesome set, track after track after track - just relentless! But as usual, not long enough. :whip: Someone should really bring him here for atleast a 5-6 hour set.
Mark O closed it out with some nice classics! (Yes, I stayed 'til the lights came on at Guv - for the very first time :happy2: )!
Great seeing the TA's out in full force again. Met some new peeps as well. Nice meeting you. :) It was great partying with all of you!
Now might be a good time for me to take a bit of a break from the scene - i'm exhausted! But I'm sure I will see you all soon.
J.
