Gotta do something about the overcrowding at Guv. I always thought that the people who keep complaining about it were whining, but last night, I was right there with it (it just took me a while.) I think it has gotten worse with the smoking ban, because now there is a constant flow of traffic going one way across the floor to get to the patio. And a constant flow going the other way to get to the washroom. No room to dance, because every freaking second somebody is pushing pass you to smoke or pee...

Rant complete.

Infected Mushroom. Not what I wanted to hear last night. Don't get me wrong, They rocked, but I was in the mood for trance. They'd be incredible opening for Nine Inch Nails though.... Every song seemed to have a NIN (circa 1995) vibe to it. Influences??? Who knows.

Max. Love the guy. A pretty jarring switch after IM though.

Violin guy. I've seen him before, and every time he takes the stage he impresses me. Kinda makes me wish I took violin lessons.

AVB. Now understand, he is my future husband, so my criticism intends to be very constructive, but I wasn't all that impressd. I think coming on after IM caused Armin to make his set a lot harder than usual. I like the banging stuff as the much as the next guy, but wish he would have played more of a range... I also would have personally preferred a few more vocal tracks - and a few things that he is really known for. Take out Communication and Silence, and there really wasn't a lot of trademark Armin tracks.

After Armin's set, we headed over to see Danny T. at the Docks. If ANYONE thinks the Guv sound system is up to snuff, go to the docks. It made the Guv's system sound like a ghetto blaster turned all the way up. (even when it is working right)

Can someone ID a track that Max Graham played near the end of his set, it had really low male vocals to it, and he was lip syncing with it... I think it was like "I'm the man" or "I'm everything" or some like that, I can't even remember properly.

Anbody know what I'm talking about?

Shouts to all those I met, and thouse I didn't say Hi to cause it was really packed (saw you chris for a second but that was about it, same with az and a few others.) Spent the right right below armin so it was packed

OMGOOOODDDNNNNEEESSSSSS!!!!

wHAT A NIGHT!!!

putting the overcorwding and unpleasantly uncontrollable fans and ugly sweaty guys all aside... my review is about the music and the friends.
KENNETH THOMAS: must be one of the best sounding prog/-trance openners I've ever heard... I'm so glad to have gotten one of his mix-CDs. really sweet way to kick off the night.

INFECTED MUSHROOM: Destroyed the place in a swift move of the bass kick. simple as that. I love how they use faster BPMs to achieve their choice of energy.. but somehow a tad difficult to keep on dancing to. Like some1 said in the middle of their set .. "this is your workout for the week!"

MAX GRAHAM: Awesome talent with various styles of EDM. gotta love his clever use of prog/house/trance to spice things up nice and GROOVY!!! before Armin came up.

ARMIN VAN BUUREN: Just as I expected to feel after his set.. tranced out and feet-exhausted. Kept the night going strong. Moments of the set for me was Jose Amnesia - the Eternal (pulser remix).. I was waiting to hear that live for a while... i simply melted.

EVERYTHING ELSE....:
Seeing all the usual TAs there was awesome.. we make the party! ...minus the WUSSIES who decided to avoid the night b/c of overcorwding.. no matter where you put armin in Toronto (except for the skydome) there will be overcrowding. I even met some TAs whom I have not seen before who apparently go out alot to events!!...great to meet you!!.. sorry but i'm not good with names after such a long nite.... but I lost 2 of you when you ran off screaming for Armin. BUt thanks for the company on the dancefloor. THE BEST SPOT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE BOOTH...EVERY1 ELSE WAS MISSING OUT!!... oh yea and behind the booth on the stage was great too.
Hope to see you all for James Holden @ System!!!!!!!

now off to see all the fotos.

hey... all i can say is that you all know whats going to happen yet you all still go and then come here to complain about it.

Either dont go and be happy or go and expect it and be happy.

Big clubs + Big events = lots of people. Thats the way it is.
