That's correct. But it also takes a lot of patience to do so. I have a decent amount of patience. And I'm trying to speak for others that don't. I'm not excusing the insults, just offering my perspective on what ultimately fuels them.

Other points all well taken. I'm going to sleep for now. :)

Then I do respect your opinion, though I do not understand it. I can't see how someone who went through the trance boom of 98-99 and the progressive trance of 2000, nevermind earlier, can find redeeming value in the Miami sound, no offense. There used to be much more creativity in my opinion.

Good night. :) I wish others were as rational as you, who participated in this thread.

No. That would be an unfair an incorrect generalization. But it is certainly true that many unexperienced listeners enjoy those particular shows, while many older listeners do not. These are not centrally planned opinions, they are based on experience.

this board is full of unfair and incorrect generalizations. all i am trying to do is defend one of them, and i am an older listener who has a wide range of taste when it comes to EDM. i hope, if nothing else, you understand where i am coming from.

completely agree.

What I find pathetic was that the thread starter could only come out with a lame explaination or rather an insult to 'McProgressive' as titled above in the first post and then later could not produce much in the discussion/debate.
Seriously, what's the purpose of this thread? Because thread starter dislike 'McProg'? So people who are on your side can have a good luahg? Or just out to 'taunt' the people who listens/worship/love 'McProgressive'?

First was the trend of edm being underground, unknown to the mass and disliking people calling trance as cheesy and techno...stuff like this. Then when edm got more popular among the mass, came the hate of the new change or gdjb/asot. What's next man? Jumping onto the hip-hop bandwagon because edm is getting popular?

+1

What I find funny is that everybody here loves EDM. A lot of members want to become the next big thing either producing or DJing yet refuse to allow EDM to become a big thing.

I bet if Zabiela (which I really admire and like a lot) or any other not so mainstream DJ were to have a radio show like ASOT where he would have thousands of listeners and feature new songs every week, it wouldn't take more than a couple of months for him to be labelled as cheese.

Yet the ironic thing is if Markus were to feature anyone of TA's members song on his show or if Armin were to call you and say "come and do the XXL show with me this week", anyone here would be drooling and wishing it was them.

And for the record, I don't like every freaking show these two guys do. I like how they play live, yet am not a big fan of their radio shows. And even then, I'm not a diehard Markus and Armin fan. I just respect what they do and admire how they've helped the trance movement grow.

much respect for Cobalt, good points.
i wouldn't mind having discussions with you.
might learn something from you.

but in the end, for me at least. what is it with this incessant need you guys have to categorize everything? did you creat it, did you invent it....? no, i gather. so what, does it make you feel like such a big man, to label it?

you don't like it, fine. you say you want to help the scene, but your bitching and moaning, which you been doing for a while, obviously hasn't had any effect so why continue. instead of all this time spent on "my taste in music is better then yours" arguments you guys have weekly. go out an produce, come up with that "unique sound". give that much needed lift to the scene, and then reinvent yourself in a year or so, and have some criticize you for changing. stick to your guns and others will cry "rehashing the same sound over and over."
lexiconavenue
...nothing but whining. what markus and armin should do is start playing all the music you bashers enjoy...maybe this will cause you to be turned off from dance music all together and take your whiney asses elsewhere. every time i stop by these forums you guys are pissing and moaning about the same old thing. grow up! if you cant stand the music they play, then why in hell are you listening to it? you're listening to it because you hate it, and you tune in because you hate the dj? the angle is mind boggling. with the time you waste listening to these broadcasts, and then typing 3 and 4 paragraphs of complaints, you negatives could be doing something more constructive like producing tracks that you feel we SHOULD be listening to. you guys are so worried about the direction progressive dance is headed; do something about it then! take the time to shape it the way you think it should be heard. otherwise, dont post. you contribute absolutely nothing to edm except proving to the true edm lovers that you are just pathetic wankers who bandwagon, bash, etc etc..

Shiloh=Progressive

Ben Camp=American Progressive

Markus= McProg

Define "mcprog" with 7 or more tracks. im not clear what track u ppl think is 'mcprog' instead of falling under trance, or loosley progressive.
Floorfiller
what is the point of arguing this people? we've all said our parts...its not going to change the opinions of those that find the sound enjoyable. its just wasted breath...i know i'm done arguing about it.
