Tiesto: In Search Of Sunrise 4 (pg. 17)

Just heard the sampler that was played on the radio. I'm even less impressed than I thought I would be. Not to slag on Tiesto, but seriously he doesn't have a clue about how to cue his tracks. I wonder if he just clicks on "Beatmatch for me" in Protools and let's it go. The mixing into JFOS and Wurz + Blosse is deplorable.

Yikes.

finally had a chance to listen to both cds on the album:

the start of the first CD 01. Solarstone and Jes - Like A Waterfall is truly awesome. Solarstone back to their best with a deep and meaningful track with real piano riffs and fantastic lyrics from Jes, the sweeping piano melody is lovely!. Mixing into 02. ToneDepth & SoulTan - Moments seems a little heavy on the beats, but the track itself carries on the chilled flow from track 1. Mixing into 03. Ahmet Ertenu - Why is nice, but seems to interupt the flow a little, some packed out beats here, very filling, which is brought down a notch when 04. JASEfos feat. Clare Van Der Boom - Do What U Want (Max Graham Afterhours In Montreal Mix) comes in. Some simple beat-matching into 05. Wighnomy Bros - Wurz + Blosse, a track which i must admit, i don't like, just doesnt have any feel to it, especially after an excellent start to the CD.

Swiftly moving onto 06. Coca & Villa - La Noche, WOW! some really funky chords for the summer days, lovely guitar like synths, fits perfectly with the chilled vibe that Tiesto is trying to create. Mixing into 07. Tilt - Twelve (Dousk Mix) seems a little hurried and they seem to clash tempo's. Would have liked to have seen the original mix instead of Dousk's. Onto 08. Luminary - My World (Andy Moor Mix) and im cringing!!, horrid mixing! they're clashing badly, too much of the high end treble and not enough bass!. Lovely track still the same, one of my favourites at the minute, vocals are absolutely awesome, Andy Moor brings out the best. Excellent choice for the album. Again mixing into 09. Steve May - Blend Forty 3 (Luke Chable & Steve May Mix) makes me cringe. Two fantastic tracks with horrid transitions!. Short vocal stabs from track 8 carry on into the mixing, overlayed onto the opening of track 9, which is a nice touch, but the vocals just dont match the beats. Anyways, who can argue with the inclusion of 'Blend Fourty 3'! Lovely prog track.

Cut short though by the introduction of Gabriel & Dresdens much hyped 10. Gabriel & Dresden - Arcadia. Is it me or do i keep moaning :D. Beats are matched on the transition but just seem to clash, probably because the tempos of the 2 tracks dont match!. Four minutes of the lovely Arcadia is complimented by 11. Split Second - Midnight Express. The CD is picking up pace, and fast! too fast for my liking. First time listening to 'Midnight Express' and im loving it :D. Nice mixing into 12. BT - The Force Of Gravity (Tiësto Remix) and lowers the pace down a little after a slightly up-tempo affair from the last 2/3 tracks. BT singing during the breakdown of 'Gravity' should please everyone, hairs on the back of my neck stand on end :D. Tiestos own production is up next after massive hype and uncertainty. 13. Allure - The Loves We Lost, personally i cant see what the fuss is about ? the pace is building up to a climax and ends on the fantastic 14. Blank & Jones feat. Bobo - Perfect Silence (E-craig's 212 Mix), seems to be pitched slightly lower than i remember though.

Overall Of CD1, its nice to see tracks being played to their full potential instead of cutting them short after the main melody is finished with. Some really dodgy mixing mid-way through but overall its acceptable. I wouldn't have included Arcadia in there, but the opening 20-30mins is thoroughly enjoyable stuff :)

CD2 later :D

Agree entirely.

If you saw Tiesto in the last 2 months... you already heard 95% of these tunes... and with 110% better order for a flowing set.

That said, this is a chill out album... and apart from the horrendously poor mix of JASE into WORZ... it was a very nice 25 mins we heard on Dance Department.

Its such a pity... cos on his Miami Space set... Worz was masterfully mixed into Tilt's 12... again... bad planning on the track order here or what?

Looking forward to hearing the rest... but very doubtful its going to compare to any of the previous ISOS's...

i remain true to my first reaction to this being the tracklist.
ITS NYANA 2.

Just finished CD2 after skipping through a few tracks i already know well.

CD2 starts off nice with a favourite of his 01. Estuera vs Re:locate - Palma Solane lasting over 5mins. Nice chunky start to the CD, sets the tempo of the CD, which i can tell is going to be a lot more upbeat than the first. Mix into 02. Leon Bolier presents Inner Stories - Beyond takes an eternity :D, not much happening except the bog-standard outro/intro beats for a minute. Then the lovely breakdown of 'Beyond' and the sweet melody kicks in, real hands in the air stuff :D, but a little too soon as were only 7mins into the CD!. Next up is possibly the worst decision he's made on the album combined with horrible mixing. 03. P.O.S. - Gravity, is a tune in its own right, no doubting im a big fan of the Anjuna boys, but this does not belong on the album!!. Its totally out of place, Tiesto totally messes the intro up and couples this with the worst mixing on the album so far.

The tempo slows down completely for 04. LNQ - People I Used To Know and messes the flow up completely. The track makes up for fit though :D, lovely drawn out synths and stabby effects overlapping. Seamless transition into 05. Mads Arp featuring Julie Harrington - Slow It Down (Mathilda Mix) restores my faith in Tiesto, no intro/outro beats, just straight into the goregous melody with lush vocals from Julie :D, mixing into 06. Dominic Plaza - Sounds Rushing is even better! albeit the crossfader seems to be getting hammered this time :D. Tiesto had to include 'Sounds Rushing', it'd be a tradegy not too, but at this stage? 1/3 of the way through. Its an epic prog tune, would have made a nice intro or finisher. Theres hardly enough time to appreciate it for long as before i know it, another prog monster is rushed in! 07. Matthew Dekay vs. Proluctors - Bad enters the scene. Lonnggggg transistion here, and i mean long, listening to beats for what seems like an eternity when the pumping chords of Dekays Bad Boy come creeping in :D. Im becoming tired of this of late, Deep Show, or Clearing The Mind would have been a nice inclusion, but thats just me :D.

Pitch is upped drastically to accomodate the next track 08. Electric Pulse - White Noise nooo, dont ruin it!. Lovely track, full of energy and rhythms, but totally out of place after 'Bad'!. I feel like skipping the next few tracks, theres nothing there i want to listen too! 09. Grayarea feat. Erik Shepard - Gravity was nice enough, then comes 10. Tiësto feat. Matt Hales from Aqualung - UR (Junkie XL Air Guitar Remix). Junkie tries his best to salvage one of the worst tracks on Tiestos 'Just Be' album, but still fails. It feels like im tuned into MTV and listening to Coldplay or Radiohead! move along, nothing to see here!. Is it me, or are their lots of smaller artists churning out material lately? especially on the Dutch Labels. Odyssee and Progression are my examples, nothing special about them! Mixing is what i'd expect, nothing amazing, but then nothing so terrible that you'd notice sipping Sangrias at 3pm next to the pool. So thats 11. Odyssee - Evolution and 12. Progression - Sands Of Time mentioned then!. Swiftly onto a fav of mine, which.... doesnt seem to be mixed? silent fade out from track 12, and Tiesto just hammers straight into 13. L.S.G. - Netherworld (Oliver Prime Mix). Now anyone that knows Netherworld, will know its a dark, chunky trancer with a difficult intro to mix into. Tiesto just didnt bother mixing at all :D. Well, im surprised, the mixing either side of track 13 is non-existent??? or its my ears. 14. Sensorica vs. Jin Key - Only One (Rave Mix) is the grande finale. Pathetic way to end the CD! Theirs many more anthems im sure he could end a memorable album on that this! meh
