Exactly. Chingy was popular, Britney Spears was popular, etc. They sold millions of copies of their albums and sold out their shows.
I hate when in an argument such as this people equate talent with album sales and general popularity. If a DJ you absolutely hate became the number one DJ in the world would you all of a sudden realize his talent? Likely not. |

It has everything to do with quality. Someone new to EDM will not recognize what's good and what's bad. You acquire a taste for music as you go. |
I am sorry, that is pure nonsense. So u r saying that everyone over here who is for instance a member since lets say 2000 will recognise when a track or set has quality? Why then do u still disagree with eachother on for instance new tracks (some of the 'long in EDM' people think its and some label it a killer track), when u all have acquired 'good' taste...? It seems like u have to stop calling the stuff 'bad' that u personally dont like. There is no good or bad in music, because its all about TASTE and that is as subjective as can be.
BTW: still a junior addict over here, but that doesnt mean that i am new to EDM :D |

basically the way i see it....
if he tightened up his mixing and learnt about Phrases then he would deseverdly be no.1 |

nah. i don't think any dj out there is good enough to be #1 three consecutive years.
but then again, "dj lists are a popularity contest look at james zabiela not being on the top blah blah blah" |

Do you think that TA is the only place on the world where EDM fans congregate? It's pretty ignorant to use an example of membership length considering someone who joined in 2000 may have just started to listen whereas someone who joined last year could have started listening to EDM 10 years ago.
Who would you trust on an opinion for a new track that you've never heard but want to purchase on vinyl, someone who started listening to EDM last week or someone who started listening to it 5 years ago? |

Fatboy Slim has played to crowds of 300,000 and 250,000. Oakey has headlined Glastonbury, and warmed up for U2 and Madonna, not to mention playing open air stadiums. 25,000 isn't a very big attendance number. |

50,000 People burnt Disco records at a Baseball game (rally) in Chicago, under the famous slogan "Disco Sucks" in 1979.

* just a random fact for you *
Anyway, i suppose my point is that the number of people that a DJ plays to doesn't mean about how good they are. |
