Sasha wasnt talking about skill or technique, but about Ableton Vs Turntables/CDJs, etc.
And if all that matters is what coming out of the speakers, then the DJ better do a good ing job. |

Today I listened to a recording of "DJ Tiësto @ Disneyland Paris". There is a point, when Tiësto is announced by this black guy. "He is the number one DJ of the world." "Great pleasure to me, to let you welcome..."
Later, this guy says: "Let the DJ know how you feel." This was the point I thought: "What the F? This sounds like 'Let the king feel the people's subjection'."
This DJ is just a DJ! He plays records just as everyone else can buy in every good record shop. He produces music like a lot of further producers. Man! What makes Tiësto so special?! Yes, his sets are really mindblowing. But I know at least one DJ who does it as well, if not even better. And I'm not speaking of the big ones. Tiësto even has no special skills on the turntables. Just mixing good tracks after another.
DJ Tiësto. This cow has been milked enough.
DVD: In Concert Vol. 1, OK.
DVD: In Concert Vol. 2, why?
Olympia, where is the connection to trance?
Paris, same as Olympia.
etc.
DJ Tiësto is not the No. 1 DJ. He is the No. 1 publicity platform. (my opinion)
This Tiësto hype is only the result of a great and massive marketing strategy. And I'm a little pi**ed off because they are using our trance music.
Perhaps you'll say, trance music is nearly dead in some countries. So, why don't support the "Tiësto Mission" to get it a little alive in the commercial public?
Well, we had this a few years ago. Too many cheap productions in the radio and on TV. Do you still want trance to be the mainstream?
Big lightshows and massive advertising are no reasons to be the No. 1. |

I personally am a Tiësto fan, and its not like i go around chanting WELL OH YEAH? MY DJ IS #1 BABY!!! I don't care whos #1. The only person who you should care about is someone thats you like.
Personally i'm also an anti-armin kinda' guy, but i'm not parading on his topics saying ARMINS SUCKS HE SHOULD DIE. Give it a rest people please. We're sick of this incessant crap :( |

Armin is much more of a publicity whore, radio show every week? me thats good avertising isn't it.
Trance as a genre doesn't need to be technically mixed perfectly, the breakdowns and drops do the work.
Give the guy some credit, he's a fkin better DJ than all of you, and you cant deny it. He's made it ffs, and everyone knows it.
Trance fans and tiesto fans aren't all idiots. I've been listening to progressive house for a lot longer than trance, and Sasha as my primary DJ. me, it takes someone special to take over Sasha.

Anyways I can see this now..... Next year when the new Poll is announced with a New #1 (maybe) the 30 or more Threads why that DJ sucks.. or how good he was back in 19--, and why is this Dj #1.
